Hes saying that he's hearing a ping in 5th gear. He's tried changing plugs, filling the tank with something called hi test and sea foam. He's still getting the ping slightly after using 87 octane and the dealer said that nothing is coming up on the computer. He's appreciate some input please.

    His name is Wild Bill.

Hi test is premium gasoline folks.

Define the ping for us and lugging in 5th gear. Im guessing the lugging in 5th gear is low rpm?

Some cars have been pinging for years, mostly small ones with small enginges and manual transmissions, but i would say that any car or truck in 5th gear going slow enough to be called lugging is proly the problem.

^^^ This. You aren't supposed to be lugging the engine in any gear. Not good for it. Oh and it will cause it to ping.
