BEST Low Profile Garage Jack for Toyota Tacoma?

I was being lazy so I decided to post it. I did some searches and there are variety of opinions on different jacks. I'm confused. I might just go to sears or Harbor freight and pick a 4 tons jack (no brand ind mind yet) just to be on the safe side .

 

I've had craftsman jack and jack stands for the last 16 years. Works great every time. I would stay away from Harbor Freight. They sell a lot of cheap stuff. I have some of their stuff (Engine stand and others) but try and stay away from anthing with moving parts as most of their stuff seems to come from places as cheap or cheaper than China.

 

I don't think we need a "low profile" jack for a tacoma... some need a HIGH profile jack haha

Sorry scottw1, I just bought a Pittsburgh 3 tons rapidpump floor jack priced at $149.99 from Harbor Freight earlier this afternoon and paid $89.99 for it. I swapped my rear shocks as soon as I got back and it seemed to be working as intended. I have yet to try to jack up the front and see how it handles the heavier front end. A 3 tons Jack should be able to handle the Tacoma right?

I have an aluminum low profile jack from HF - works like a charm, has outlasted my $130 Torin and some other brand jack. But it's for my Honda, not truck.

I don't think a low profile jack is going to raise the truck high enough - make sure you know how high you want the jack to go before purchasing!

 

I'm going to replace my front shocks so I did some searches on Utube to see what would be the best way to go about it. The way this guy compressed his springs makes me nervous but he got it done.

You can rent those spring compressors for free at Autozone or Advance auto, just make sure they are on opposite sides of each other and tighten each side a little at a time - don't tighten one side completely, then move on to the other.
