Adding Nav/Sat. Radio

My 13 Taco is great but I wish now that I had satellite radio and navigation. I have the factory touch screen. I was doing some reading but could not find the answer I am looking for... Say I were to find a wrecked 12 or 13 taco with the "entune/JBL" head unit, could I swap out radios and sign up for Sat? Even though I am sure it might cost quite a bit even from a wrecking yard its still probably cheaper than the 2k option from the dealer. Sorry if I missed this somewhere in the threads
Thanks

I'm in the same boat. Sadly it seems the only option is to replace the head unit. I don't know if you can do a direct swap from another 12/13 but I plan on just putting in a nice Kenwood or Panasonic double DIN head unit sometime soon.

I was looking around a while back and a lot of people run aftermarket pioneer head units. Scoche makes a pretty good dash kit that matches well.

I'm thinking of getting an aftermarket. I'm just concerned about getting the controls on the steering wheel to work with it.

For the price of the Entune option, you can havea really nice setup and then some!

I just installed a kenwood and all steering wheel controls work!

to be clear you need an adapter to assure all controls work. also I had the USB & Aux wired to work as well.

I installed a Pioneer and all the controls work with the aswc. Hardest part was stuffing everything behind the head unit. I used an external XM unit for awhile but couldn't stand all the wires. With the Pioneer I'm happy. Cost around $450 total and I did it myself.

Jparf or bajatacoguy - Can you list the model of Kenwood or Pioneer you got if you don't mind? I am in the same boat as Uncle Francis.

Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS

Brake override so I don't have to worry about the DVD and parking brake

Sirius unit

Wiring harness

Steering wheel adapter

USB adapter to retain stock USB plug
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...AX-TOYUSB.html

I don't think my aux in works anymore but I have no use for it since I have USB and Bluetooth. Also they say there's a special Toyota adapter for the steering wheel harness but I was told it doesn't work for the 2013s so I tapped into the stock harness with butterfly crimps so I didn't have to fully cut it. There are threads here on how to make the steering wheel adapter work for our trucks, just have to search.

Good luck.

Rostra has a navigation interface that uses the factory head unit. Heres the link for it.

There is a ton of info in the Audio/Video section here. I think the answer to all your questions are there.

Interesting. I've never seen this. They have some pretty cool other products too. Any idea how much it costs? I can't seem to find pricing on their site.

I'd still go with an aftermarket deck though. You get better sound quality and features in addition to getting the nav/dvd.

Woah check out the install video.
