Hey guys, first post ever....heres my question, just recently purchased 2011 double cab trd sport LB and the other night noticed that I had a bigger gap between the bed and cab on one side than the other. Truck had clean carfax so no wrecks reported, is this a problem and is it easy to realign?

Carfax only shows items reported to the insurance companies, and not all insurance companies report to Carfax.

Carfax might be able to tell you that a vehicle has had a serious incident, but it can't tell you that it has not.

Welcome to TW! Do you have any pictures of each side? Did you get the truck from a dealer or privately?

Don't have any pics just yet, getting ready to hit the sack. I did purchase it from a dealer so I was planning on calling them tomorrow to help resolve the issue. Just thought I'd mention it on here and see if anyone else ever had that problem.

You would think that if your bed wasn't aligned properly that it could have been in an accident. That's the only thing that I can think of at the moment. I don't think that they come from factory like that. If the dealership got it on a trade you would think they did an inspection and that should be on there. Something is a miss here that's for sure.

How recently did you get it?

The bed can be loosened and shifted a little for alignment, but I'd be inspecting for damage. Hopefully the dealer fixes you up.

Ask the dealer, but in all honesty, don't be surprised when they say there's nothing to report.

I actually just noticed that my bed too is out of alignment. Closer on the passenger's side. It's not much, but it's noticeable up close. And I bought mine brand new from the dealer, 35 km on the odometer.

My dad bought the '07 I now have brand new. Immediately after I got it I noticed it'd had some body work on the bed near the taillight. Piss poor bodywork; rust is coming out from under the bondo, the paint doesn't exactly match, and that side of the bed is tilted outward where it meets the tailgate. None of it super obvious 'till you look closely. It was never in an accident during Dad's ownership, the dealer did this before selling it and hid it. I tried tracking it down and was able to find a paper trail showing the Toyota dealer took it to another another dealer under their ownership for a few days but there was nothing about bodywork, only that they pinstriped it. They totally hid the bodywork between the two dealerships.

I had to take my brand new 2013 back to the dealer for the bed being misaligned. It took their body shop less than 10 min to adjust everything. Apparently these trucks can roll off the assembly line with the bed misaligned.

Thanks guys for the feedback. Talked to dealer and have appt Monday. They said they'd check for any damage but are pretty sure the bed just needs to be aligned.

My '03 came off the dealer's lot cockeyed. My '09 was fine when I bought it but has moved a fair amount since.

Dealer realigned bed and everything looks good. They said there was no damage or any evidence that the truck was ever in an accident. So everything turned out good, thanks for all the feedback!
