SSM TRD Sport

OK... so I've had a thread in the Buy/Sell for a while looking for somebody to trade bumpers w/ me. I want the color-matched SSM bumper like the TRD Sports have.

I called the dealership just now to ask how much they would charge, and he said he couldn't look it up w/o a VIN from a TRD Sport. (I think that's crap, but whatever.) I asked for a ballpark and he said "uh... $250ish, I think."

He also said that the bumpers come un-painted from Toyota and they're painted locally. He even gave me the # of the place that they work with.

My questions: Has anybody purchased a color-matched bumper from a dealership? How much was it?

Does anybody want to PM me the VIN from their SSM TRD Sport truck so I can get him to look it up in the system? (Yeah, I know that's a strange request...)

 

If you're going to buy a new one to paint.. just take your chromie in to get painted...

 

Why not just take yours to a good autobody/paint shop and have it done? I'm sure it'd turn out just as good and you can probably get it done for relatively cheap....

 

I was thinking about doing that. I'd take it off, sand off all the chrome, then take it in. I can sand off the chrome msyelf easier than letting them charge me.

Think I can get the chrome off?

 

FU**! I just called the place my dealership said they use for bodywork/painting... he said it'd be $400-500 to paint a freaking bumper!

Back to looking/hoping to find somebody who wants to swap!
