Oil Pan Drain Plug Torque Spec.

Anyone out there have access to a manual that states the torque specification for the oil pan drain bolt on the 2.7 liter 2008 Tacoma?

 

Sorry don't know but related, get the Fumoto drain valve.

Eliminates you having the screw the plug on and off and get a new crush washer and potentially risk stripping the threads.

Fastest oil change I've ever done with this.

 

i keep hearing about this. what is the fumoto drain valve? what does it cost? and does anyone have any pics of it, preferably side by side by the original plug?

This is one of the two models of Fumoto Drain Valve, the other one has a tube extension to make oil drain even easier.

 

i keep hearing about how easy it woudl be to rip off when you are 4 wheeling. what if you have a skid plate, will that protect it enough?

 

I do have a skid plate, and even the other Fumoto valve model and I do not see how you can damage this valve and if so, you will definitely will damage the oil pan too. Too risky doing this, but for sure most of us even with a 4x4 model we will not risk the integrity of the truck even without the valve? or are you?

 

I have a manual and don't see a torque spec. I always go 1/2 turn past hand tighten. Just a rule of thumb I've used for years.

 

are you talking about the plug or the filter, i have always used that rule for the filter

 

30 Ft lbs with crush washer (4.0 V-6)




28 Ft lbs (2.7 4 cylinder)

28 foot pounds for the 2.7L. By the way, The one quart size PH1 style oil filter works perfectly on the 2.7L. I use a M1 301.

 

Thats for both really. I have the same page above that was posted, I'm just not smart enough to know what the '30' in the parentheses meant. I have about 1000 .pdf's I'm trying to put together for a complete manual. When I down loaded them, they weren't titled. Fun fun.....
