    I have been following the forums with regard to gas mileage for a few months now. I have read many complaints from members that dont meet their vehicles mpg ratings on their MSRP sheets. People are trying all kinds of gadgets to increase gas mileage. Here is a link for real world gas mileage. As you can see, you are probably getting close to what the Tacoma is suppose to achieve. You bought a Tacoma not a Yaris.

    Well, before I installed my lift, bigger tires, and all the other mods I've done, I was getting around 18.5-19 MPG in the city... now I'm at about 15.5... though that's driving very very aggressively too.

    If my Tacoma always had such terrible gas mileage, I could accept it. But mine has been taking a dive since August, much worse than it has in previous winters.

    The website you quoted is where the mpg numbers come from for your window sticker...

    In 2008 EPA changed the formula to be more accurate, and they recalculated the pre 08 car mpg at that time as well.

    2010 Tacoma dbl cab V6 6 speed towing a 16 ft Carson Titan Toyhauler(FL162) with 2 quads and a modest amount of gear= 8 mpg.Crappy mileage to say the least.My buddys 2010 V8 Chevy Silverado gets almost double that pulling his 24 ft Weekend Warrior.:mad:

    If gas mileage is a major concern, maybe you need to think about a different type of vehicle. I routinely average about 18 in mixed driving.

    In my '09 DC/SB TRD OR stock, I was getting 18 avg for the tank running around town, to work, some back roads etc... driving conservatively which was not bad. Stictly hwy was disappointing. 2 people, no gear, 75*F weather, no wind, cruise at 72mph averaged 20mpg on flat ground. Was not every happy, was looking for 22-24. Big Diesels 4x4's get that....


    Not to mention gas has sky rocketed in the past few weeks in FL & GA. We're up to $2.71/gal for 87 octane. 2 or 3 weeks ago I was getting it for $2.34.

    I'm very pleased with the gas mileage I'm getting from my Tacoma (370 to 400 miles per tank like clockwork).

    I get 21.5-22 mpg consistently. Lots of suburban roads (speed limit 35-45mph) and some highway (75/25), I accelerate moderately, I use cruise control often and when stopping I try to lose at least 25% of my speed by coasting.

    I second the skyrocketing prices... $2.85 here in NC when it was $2.39 2 weeks ago... WTF??!?!?

    In Canada, Toyota advertises MPG ratings on their website. I have a 2010 SR5 4 Cylinder 4x4. It has approx. 2000 Km. I get above 12L/100Km but there is very little traffic and few stop lights and signs. I am not overly concerned about it. I am quite sure if there was the typical city traffic where I live, the gas mileage would be the "real world" stats.

    that's why i got the 2.7L 4cyl....i average about 22mpg all around...a v6 averaging 17 just isn't good...my dad's 2wd dodge ram 1500 v8 gets 17...might as well get a 4x4 tundra v8 and get 15mpg...not much difference

    A lot of this depends on the gas. When I fill up with non-ethanol laced gas (yes, it is laced damn it!) I get almost 22mpg, but when I fill up with 10 percent ethanol gas, I normally get around 19-20. This is all highway driving, but these motors just don't like the ethanol mix. It gets worse with winterized gas with ethanol, my average drops to about 17. This is all with a 2005 DC with the auto, 1.5 inches of lift and running 265/70/17 Revo2s. Remember to adjust your mpg calculations based on tire size since it does make a difference!

    17.5 mpg on the interstate @ 75,80 mph. 20.5-21.5 mpg around the house @ 55 mph. Stock with 285-50-20's and was the same with stock wheels and tires.
