? about a new tacoma

Hey everyone. I'm new to the site, though I've read the forum for quite some time. I've got a quick question and hopefully I'm posting this on the right forum. I'm in the market for a new double cab, 4x4, TRD OR, magnetic grey, short bed. I'm not asking for anyone to tell me what they paid for their truck (cause that's rude), I simply want to know if it's possible to get that truck for between 26-27k. Most places I've seen has the new TRD OR for around 32k but that is way out of my price range. Do I need to lower my expectations (i.e. not buy brand new and look for used)? Thanks for the help.

 

yeah, you can get it for that before taxes. you just have to look around.
i got the same exact thing but sport for that before taxes. (28K after taxes.)

i got it from online quotes. they are they easiest to deal with since your not talking to a real person.
i used consumer reports. BTW

 

I got mine financed for $30,700 out the door TTL, etc. Just use the Autotrader internet prices to your advantage, they usually have some type of special internet deal.

Also, if you have multiple dealers in your area let them know you are shopping other locations. I bought mine out of town as here where I live there is only one Toyota dealer, they make it seem like you wont be able to find good deals on the trucks.

just look around alot, i got lucky with mine 29,XXX OTD on a brand new '11 trd off road

just be patient i waited 3+ years before i could swing THE truck i wanted and now i have my dream truck and payments that are good

 

Well I'm not a hardcore off-roader. I don't climb mountains or go bogging every weekend. I guess I just want the OR package cause I'm one of those people that like to have the options just in case I need them. Also I'm a wildlife biologist so I never know where a job is gonna take me. And typically those jobs take you off road.

I've read the other posts about offroading in the SR5 vs. TRD. I guess I just wonder if the rear locker is really needed for someone who isn't a hardcore climber or bogger. What about driving in snow? Is 4wd all you need or would the locker help there too?

 

Since you live in fl I don't think you have to worry about snow

 

No I definitely don't worry about the snow in Florida. However I won't live here for much longer (I'm tired of that heat) so that's why I was wondering about the snow. Thanks for the help whippersnapper.

 

our old willy's jeep would probably outclimb anything anyone on this list has, yet the tires were very mild truck tires.

gearing is the holy grail - however, i'm really referring to climbing hills, etc. only... not mud, etc.

unless of course, you meant very mild truck tires are the way to go

 

i got my SR5 for $27,250 before taxes. after reading thru these forums, i feel like i could've got a better deal. oh well.

 

OP , for the conditions you describe you would be fine with the Sport or the SR5 4x4's .

 

I get through all of this with no problem.

figure out your needs and wants, choose accordinly.

I didnt need any of the TRD packages so saved the money and got a SR5.

 

If you are a member of USAA, you can utilize their "car buying service" to get a new Tacoma ('11 DC 4x4 TRD Off-Road) for around $27,500 depending on the accessories you get with it.

 

It seems right now with production being shutdown for a week and not a ton of surplus you may have to work pretty hard on the price.

I would suggest figuring out the amount you want to spend and get some internet quotes. From there you will be able to tell if your way off base price wise.

 

If I remember correctly, I paid somewhere like $27.5K for my 2009 TRD DC 4x4 6spd with the JBL brand new. Thought that's with $1K off with Toyota incentive.

I paid $30.2 for my 2011 TRD DC LB sport auto 4x4 jbl. No incentive.

 

I just got an 11 double cab, ended up going for 2x4 to save a little, live in FL and have two small kids so no weekend excursions anymore for a while. I did look at the 4x4 and yes, you can, with a bit of shrewd negotiating get out the door after taxes/ tag/ financing for under 26K. Be prepared to haggle and walk away from the negotiations.

 

Interesting screen name. I got around 3k knocked off my sport plus another grand for the college grad program, thanks to my wife. If you have graduated college within the last 2 years you should be able to get this. Good luck!

The man sounds like he wants the abilty and safety of having the most traction available... so for his investment he can expand into more difficult off roading without expensive after-market products.

 

The OP stated the Offroad is out of his price range , an SR5 4x4 will do what he needs in his budget .
