Rich , do your Dakars squeak ?

 

I have had my Dakars for a long time now and do not have any squeaks. My old stock springs with the add-a-leafs were really squeaky.

Did you grease the bushings when you installed them ?

 

Sorry had to close early last night for work. Yes I definately have a budget, and had hope to do this lift for around $500.00 or less. I found a toytec 3 inch lift but don't know if thats enough to support the 285's I am going to buy, is it? I found this lift OME3-05-AL, which is what I thought you were suggesting. the site page: They have some others which were around $650. What do you think?

 

Rich, thanks for your time, Nice truck, and nice lift. looks like you do some serious off-roading. I checked the sites you suggested, the lift you suggested, assuming I looked at the right one was around $1100, I am on a strict budget, so I need to keep the lift to around 300-500. I found some lifts on toytec for around that price, what do you think, in reading other posts most people seem happy with theirs but with some rubbing! Also, how high of a lift do you have and what size of tires are you running? I am not doing any heavy hauling, just back and forth to work, and some hiking in NM high mountains, hence the ride is important to me.

 

Peter thanks for your time, let me know what you think about the toytec, If I have to, I will wait awhile until I save for the more expensive lift, Richard suggested. Nobody said anything about Procomp, I know for a jeep Its considered middle to lower end of the road.

Stormy...I'm in the same boat as you. I have recently purchased a 2011 TRD Off Road and I'm looking to lift it. I started looking at the Toytec budget kits $300-$500 but those all use spacers to achieve the front lift which will stiffen the ride. I have a co-worker who used the OME lift and loves the ride on and off road. I am leaning towards the OME kit, and got an installation quote of $460 which is good to know if you are not planning on installing yourself.

I've done some more chatting today with the ToyTec and 4 Wheel Parts. The OME kit is actually a 2" lift. OME is an Australian company and the authority on 4x4 lifts down under. There is a 2" lift maximum down there.

I'm now leaning towards the ToyTec Ultimate kit with Bilstien 5100 front and year. Adjustable front coil, and AAL rear.

With lift of 3", beside new UCAs do you need anything more, like a diff drop kit or carrier bearing drop kit?

 

I believe the LR UCAs are cheaper through wheelers, like 420.

That's the exact OME lift I got from toytec recently and I love it. 885's with dakars. (you could always go AAL for budget) Fairly easy install, amazing ride quality. You can get a full 3" with the top plate spacers on the 884's and 885's. (that's what I got anyways..and you barely notice them) I fit 285/70/17's with just a little trimming of some plastic with a utility knife.

Search around on here and you'll find all your answers.. Keep in mind the offset of your wheels if you're going with 285 tires. I wanna say it's min. of 4-4 1/2" to prevent rubbing on the UCA's? Still a noobie so anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.
