What all options do you guys have?

    I have the push button 4wd and mine is a 2004 5spd 4x4 V6 TRD Offroad SR5 Extra Cab.

Just looked at my window sticker from when I bought it (yeah I still have it for some reason) and there is a separate listing for "High 4 Selector Switch". I don't remember it being a separate option though.

unless you have manual hubs you have the electronic button. most of them come like that.

01-04 TRD manuals come with the push-button 4wd if I'm not mistaken. When I went taco searching, I wanted the manual TC but couldn't find it in any TRD trucks.

Not true, the 01-04 4x4 had either a J-shifter or push-button. No manual hubs.

Sounds like the TRD Offroad package may be the key. Anyone out there have a TRD Offroad with a J-shift 4x4?

Ha, I love my push-button. To each their own.

Does the manual work the same where you can throw it in 4wd at anytime without clutch from 0-60mph?

No, it is not a TRD thing either. I do not have the button. Mine is the J-shift. I don't think anyone has ever figured out why some trucks got one shifter, and others the other.

I test drove several 2001s of exactly the same spec, and the shifter varied on them. None had manual hubs. All I can think of is that they changed at some point in production for some reason. My 2001 was built in Aug. 2001.

Weird. Like I mentioned my manufacturer window sticker has it listed as an individual option separate from the TRD/SR5/etc. options. Must have just been an option that was randomly put on some and not others.

Yes you can! I have the manual transfer case too. They call it 4x4 on the fly! You can shift into 4Hi without clutch:D

I like the j-setup better...less electronics = less crap to go wrong. Although...I like the 2LO mod that you can do for the push button system. I like 2LO.
