Hey everyone I'm a noob to this website I gotta say it seems like a great bunch of peeps with alot of great info. I just bought my first new(ish) toyota. Its a 2010 reg cab 4x4. Ive always wanted one of these trucks and I finally got one. I love it but the fact that there is no armrest or console for the bench seat was seriously bugging me. I checked into the store bought consoles but none of them seemed to fit right. I also took off my center head rest so I can put my arm back there when cruising. but than I diddnt have a place to store the head rest in the truck. so i decided to kill two birds with one stone, I made a combination armrest and headrest holder :) Its super simple but looks really good and doesnt take up alot of space. It is the perfect position for an armrest and it makes driving the truck so much better.
All I did was stack 4 pieces of 3/4 mdf up and glue and screw them together than attatched that to a piece of thin "panelling" which would slide under the seat. than drilled 2 holes in the mdf block to slide in the metal headrest posts, the holes are not exactly aligned so the posts will be tight in the wood. than just covered the whole thing in speaker box carpet. I intentionally left the carpet sloppy on the paneling so that it would fit tight under the seat.

    Win Win!!!

Glad to see someone else make use of their 3rd HR as a arm rest. I've done the same, not that well done up though.

Check out my build thread. I just laid the HR right on the seat.

How is the positioning with that, it does look like it might be a bit forward.

Well I tried to make it as far back as possible. It's very comfortable it doesn't get in the way with shifting at all. But if I could have made it a couple inches back it would have been a bit better. But the height is perfect. And it looks stock!

I never thought to look if you had an Auto or Manual. That positioning might not be terrible for shifting.

have you tried flipping the headrest around and facing it backwards? might move it back a bit... just a thought. great idea though. do you happen to have pics of the build you could post? and does it move at all?

Hey if anybody is still checkin out this post. Bosstanman is a dousche! First of all I gave him the armrest for free, secondly I boxed it up and paid for the shipping to send it to him. All I wanted in return was for him to send me a check/moneyorder for the shipping. IT WAS ONLY 10 BUCKS! The box was delivered to him 7/21. I haven't heard a peep from him, no thank you msg, no email, no check in the mail nothing.
I even sent him a couple friendly reminder PM's..... keep this in mind if you ever deal with this guy on here. He burns bridges so easily for 10 bucks? I knew I should have givin it to tootall.
