recommendations for 60k mile service? first solid milestone for me...

I purchased my 07 4x4 base model AC in late December of 2010 and am about to roll over to 60k miles. I recently replaced the air filter and have had two oil changes and a tire rotation since then, i.e. basic maintenance. Because I bought the truck used at 51k miles, I'm not sure what big services have been done to it. What i'm wondering is what would you guys recommend for my 60k mile service (or should i wait until like 75k?). I've done a bit of research, and the list below is what i seem to be coming up with. thoughts? should i be inspecting/changing anything else?

Also, i bought my truck as a CERTIFIED used vehicle. Does the fact that it was supposedly well taken care of when i bought it change any of this? would toyota have done any of these services already in its certification?

-Replace spark plugs
-Re-torque propeller shaft bolt (?)
-lube propeller shaft (4WD)
-Replace front differential oil (4WD)
-Replace transfer case oil (4WD)
-Replace rear differential oil, including limited-slip

looks like you've about got it covered. I would also give your breaks a good inspection, front and rear.

x2, thats about all I plan to do once I hit 60k miles besides the standard oil change and tire rotation.

You do not need to replace the auto trans fluid until 100k. The new transmission design requires an elaborate (and expensive) process for changing the fluid. Only if you regularly tow with your vehicle, or otherwise subject it to heavy-duty purposes, does Toyota recommend doing this at 60k.

I understand it's a sealed unit, but how is it any harder to change the transmission fluid? It's a bit harder to get to the filter but how is the process any different than any other automatic transmission?

 

It looks pretty complex to me, beyond my DIY skills anyway.

1) You need to use a "special" WS fluid, supposedly only available at your Toyota dealer.

2) The drain and fill procedure is involved, including preheating the fluid to a certain temperature.

So, I am not saying you couldn't do it yourself, and certainly you could find a shop that could do it besides a dealer.

Now that's just a fluid change. But what about a transmission flush, that is the recommended service? Need a machine for that. read this

I'm almost at 60k on my 08.

In addition - Also going to look for...

Rear axle seal leaks
Timing chaing chain leaks
Basically power wash the undercarriage and then crawl around and look for residue that looks like it could be a leak

 

Just got to 63k. Was pricing Transmission changes but if I dont need one til 100k then heck I will wait. I will need brakes soon and a new cabin filter (thats never been replaced) the front and rear diffs have never been changed. belts are squeaking under the hood. I guess I should take it in to the dealer for something.
