Want a new 9mm, what do you recomend

So im in the market for a new 9mm in the $450-600 price range, im a left handed shooter, and would carry the weapon rarely but often enough to were size is a deciding factor, as of right now im heavily considering the FNH FNX, does any body have this pistol and what are your opinions on it, or any other recomendations? Thanks

 

I recommend something starting with a "4."

All joking aside, most ballistic tests haven't found a big difference between 9mm, .40 and .357 SIG. I have no experience with the platform you're asking about. Hopefully someone here does!

Check out the Kahr PM9. Small, light and an excellent shooting gun for a concealed carry self defense weapon. I carry it all the time off duty. Its also made in .40cal and .45cal. The only difference is the weight of the higher caliber guns. I highly recommend this gun. You can get it with or without night sights and also with Big Dot sights which are very nice.

 

I really like the glock 26 9mm. i shot one at the range and its small, feels great and has little felt recoil and shoots great! Now i am not a glock fanatic and i do not think they are the best thing since sliced bread. but its a nice gun. i would look into it and they are right around $500

Have you looked at the xd's, or xdm's? I carry a full size XDm daily and have no problem concealing it. They also make them in 3.8" smaller version but i have yet to shoot one. The full size XDm is a dream to shoot, very accurate, and follow up shots with it are easy and spot on.

Another one is the Glock 17, or 19. In some peoples opinion they are one of the best 9mm produced, but I have a problem with the grip angle and how it feels in my hand. I would say try and test the different ones you are looking at and see what one fits you best.

 

XD9 or XD9SC - Ambi mag release for your LH

Personally I would go with a Glock 19 or 26. I am LH as well and have been trained to manipulate the gun just as well as a righty. The 4th Gen glocks have mag releases that are reversible.

 

Check out the SIG or KIMBER COLT

Glock 19 is hard to beat for the money.

Well I was going to say a HK USP in 9mm. I have one and love it. I used to shoot tactical matches and mine has had thousands of rounds through it and has never malfunctioned. I am also left handed and it works great. But enough about that cause it's out of your price. I can also agree with the other poster above on the glock 26. I'm not a fan of glocks but as far as conceal-ability you can't beat the glock 26. It's a nice shooting little gun. I'm not a big guy so the HK sticks out on me, but the glock 26 can be carried concealed very well. I won mine at a Glock match I was helping run. I can honestly say I would have never bought one on my own. I am glad I have it now cause it is a nice gun. I'm not a fan really of hammer less guns but this one has always shot good and have had no problems with it regarding the safety on the trigger.

Glock if you want a gun that wont screw you when you need it the most.

 

XD 9 subcompact!!! great so far and little but fits my big ole man mits good thats it in the center with all of his friends

 

For the money, i recommend a cz-75 compact, if you can find one. But this is coming from a guy who hates polymer, so i'm not a fan of all the glocks and xd's.

 

I have a 4" XD in 9mm. Good accuracy and very dependable (never had a malfunction with it). It' not my carry gun tho. I carry a sig sauer p238 in 380. I figure if you put 6 rounds of 380 where you need them, there is no need to carry 16 rounds of 9 mil. The Xd cost me $450 and the Sig ran around $600

 

with that budget..imho. a glock is your best bet.

Alot of guys I know went to the 40 due to knock down powerand being able to carry the same amount of ammo.

So the used market might be pretty good. Glocks are nice and rugged (though I don't own one nor plan on to). I think the Kimbers might be over your budget unless you get one used at the right place, right time.

The new Springfield XDs are getting great reviews. Not sure what they run.
