    Haha...not doing it...can't make me!
I just recieved a ridiculous amount of guns from my Grandfather who is now in a retirement home. One gun specifically I remember as a kid was this one. It's has been in the desert for many years so it's condition has been preserved. It is now going to be within a couple miles of the Coast line.

I am trying to figure out exactly what the hell I should do with it?

Get it away from the coastline.

That could be as simple as sealed storage, ask your gunsmith and your insurance people.

I would add them to my insurance first but don't put it off.

Beautiful piece by the way, you're a lucky guy. I wish your Grandpa all the best.

That's really cool. Put it in a gun safe with a dehumidifier if you're keeping it out there.

    That's a beautiful gun.

Thanks, I want to send it back to the desert where my family is. It just kind of freaks me out not having it in a secure location that I can also check periodically. I was thinking of hermetically sealing somehow, but again I'm not a professional when it comes it this type of long term storage.

Keep it in that box, put some of the silica gel packets in there. Put it in the safe, and buy a dehumidifier for the safe. I would not let that out of my sight. I was willed a 1911 colt my grandfather gave me that he carried island hopping on his way to Japan. I have a cousin that took it and moved to Maine, if I ever catch up with him, I am going to beat him senseless. Moral of the story, dont let it out of your sight.

Sorry, no way. I got the appraisal papers back and shit my pants, that's why I am really thinking hard about how to store this thing.

I'm on board with your thinking, I think that is a great way to go from what I have been reading.

When I received this gun it brought up a lot of memories. As a kid we had I think three of these and one was pieced together from various gun shows. I remember my cousins(twins) packing spit wads in it...no powder just a primers, and shooting me. Now that I am older I am really thinking about some payback for that shit....it HURT!!!
