If you have the upgraded system there should be a red led light/switch where the arrow is pointing in this borrowed picture that you can push in for on or out for off.

No,these slots are just blanks on mine except for the fog light switch. What is down by the hood release is bright blue LED that flashes after the door is locked.

My friend's 4runner had an annoying aftermarket system like this that honked and flashed and sometimes thought we were trying to steal the car, so one day when it left us stranded I traced the wire back from the light to the Big Black Box Thing and unplugged all the wires going into it. No more alarm problems :D

Yes, after looking at the Blue LED mounted down by the hood release lever I decided it didn't look factory. Seems the light also has a microswitch on it on the end towards the engine. All along I thought this was just part of the factory alarm as the rest of the truck is completely stock. Wish the previous owner had left some paperwork about the alarm he had installed.

Yep, that's the FOB I got. After I find the number on the " Brain " then what? I'm afraid if I rip out all the wires I'll be back to driving the Hyundai.

When you want to lock it try this: Press unlock first, then lock. Does the horn honk?

Maybe it was due to the horn causing deafness? ;)

For what it's worth it turns out the whole problem was caused by a dealer installed alarm "upgrade" It has a Karr 4040A module added to the factory unit. Looked up the Karr manual online so now I understand whats going on with it.
