Unreal! Where are the fabricators?

I have made multiple google, craigslist, and eBay searches for crossbars for my 08 Taco's bed rail system. Several members have been very creative in creating options. Thing is I can't weld, Thule and Yakima don't make bars, Toyota discontinued there's for who-knows-what reason, etc... In researching for them I have found that there is a huge demand! With all the clever and creative fabricators here why is no one making these! They are seriously easy (from looking at other members designs) and I would think would sale like hotcakes to owners. Can be used for cargo boxes, bikes, Thule and Yakima accessories, kayaks (my biggest reason for wanting them), and the list goes on. They MUST fit into the rail system and be adjustable forward and backward and need to be able to fit existing Thule and Yakima racks. Someone make em and u have my money.

    I found these today:
    http://www.love-2-surf.com/

They attach to the factory tie downs. They're here in Southern California, so I'll head over to check them out this week.

I'll report back with more info later in the week...

If you really wanted an answer to your question, it is this: There is sooooo little money to be made by fabricators who do GOOD work, and so much whining and lowballing that most capable fabricators don't want to deal with the hassle. This is true for individuals who fab on the side anyway. Shops have different reasons I am sure. It is hard to sell crap, and a lot harder to sell good stuff! Been there and played that game. I only make parts for friends now.

This is nothing specific to Tacomas, it encompasses all auto forums (in my experience).

Someone else has stated this too in another forum, but when I visit their site I see neither hide nor hair of them.

The Love 2 Surf brackets are super nice, and seemingly most Toyota dealers stock them here in Southern California.

The dealer by my house was going to let me have 2 pairs for $100, but I ended up going the Thule 422XT route.

If I didn't need the extra height for carrying kayaks, I'd have gone with the L2S brackets for sure.

I was just at Kevin's ( Armor Tech ) house last weekend , he makes a killer setup . He is awesome btw . He installed my sliders and skids in the poring down rain , so I could make a run the next morning . His products are well made and take a hammering . He actually had a rack sitting next to his house and has one on his Tacoma at this time . If I didn't have a brand new Leer top , I would be all over it . I am still tempted to have him fab one up to mount over my Leer top .
