For anyone who thinks they can't pull this off...try it! Like others have said, its time consuming, but rewarding when complete.
I used gutter guard for the mesh, (15 bucks, upper AND lower) and had to bolt 2 pieces together as it wasn't wide enough. I raided my son's mechano set for the bolts...:p(free). I got the grill from kijiji for 50 bucks, then abit of paint, glue, putty, ebay badge...all in for around 80 bucks!
The mesh is called "premium gutter guard" and it is really nice! Comes painted already, but I added some clear coat. I kinda like the look of the bolts accross the centre of the grill...makes it unique. I relocated the horns lower down behind the bumper and sprayed a little bbq paint behind the grill area. Many thanks to those who have taken time to post up DIY how to's on here...
Like I said, if you are afraid to try it...don't be! I am usually terrible at this stuff, so if I can do it, anyone can!

Not bad at all. When you said 2 pieces of mesh bolted together, I thought uh-oh. But you can hardly tell in the pics. Nice job.

is this a metal mesh i found some vinyl gutter guard on ebay that i thought would be pretty cool, i too of course would have to piece it together, but was wondering if vinyl would hold up. i don't think it would melt but was gonna get some input from ppl with experience.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SNAP-ON-EAS...595?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35bec3a56b i may actually have to do 3 of these but i was gonna try to build a mold and make a semi raptor style toyota badge out of bondo and bolt it in the center so if it were 3 pieces it would look good between 2 solid strips above and below.

My gutter guard is metal. It has held up great, but I did re-paint it once so far with black and clear coat.
I don't think vinyl will work...but I am curious how it turns out...keep us posted and post some pics!

I wouldn't do vinyl. After just a little time on the truck with the weather and the heat from the radiator,I would think it would get brittle. The first decent rock or piece of trash comes along, and you'd be replacing a radiator.
