The father of two friends of mine (sisters) was just diagnosed with cancer two weeks ago. He has between 1 and 6 months to live. It started out as pancreatic cancer, then spread to his liver - and a recent discovery now says that he also has cancer of the lymph nodes (head/neck).

Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Jeff "Oly" Olson is a fellow member of my Civil Air Patrol squadron, along with his two daughters (14 and 16), and his wife. He served 24 years in the United States Marines, as a fighter pilot. He commanded VMFA-232, and earned the Bronze Star for service during Operation Desert Storm.

Please pray for him and his family. They are all very strong Christians, and know that the Lord is in control.

    Thanks,
    Alex

Thoughts and prayers are with your friend and his family. We just never know when we're going to be faced with something like this and can never be prepared for it. Hopefully your friends will find the strength they need through their family and friends.

I just recieved an update on my friend's father.

As stated before the cancer is confirmed in his pancreas, liver, lungs and lymph nodes. What saddens me is that the biopsy doctors just took of the neck indicates that the cancer is already Stage 4 - there is no cure, and only Kemotherapy will prolong his life. Doctors have informed us he has maybe 1-2 months max.

Thank you all again for the kind words and prayers.

That's really sad to hear. Hopefully he isn't in too much pain or otherwise suffering. Stay strong.

"GOD, I pray for you to wipe the cancer away, for by YOU ALL things are possilbe. I pray that you would hold the hearts of the family members and friends in YOUR hands, and as always LORD, we ask that in all things, YOUR will be done and not our own. It's in the name of YOUR son JESUS CHRIST that we ask these things. AMEN.
