I had a my bed sprayed and those numb nuts broke one of the bolts on the right side tailgate striker and lost something from my tailgate hinges. Here is a pic of another 04 taco hinge. Is the piece with the arrow pointing to it just a washer? Mine had nothing there and they cranked the bolts down so tight the tailgate would hardly move. I put a plastic washer on each side and now it moves easily, but I am curious. I even asked the stealer and they don't show anything on their exploded views

Also, with the tailgate at a 45 degree angle if I pull/push up and down on the tailgate, there seems to be a good bit of play. That made me wonder if that was a shouldered washer??? to help center the hinge on the bolt. Or my hinge may just be worn.

So is that just a washer?

    Thanks for any help.

idk it looks like it's just a washer, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

It is as you suspected - a flanged spacer. Looks like a wear part, so it might be a good idea to get a new one anyway.

Exactly, thanks for the link. The part below the bolts labeled "A" looks to be what is needed. Again, the stealer is clueless so I guess I will print this and take it to them. Thanks.

Here is a pic of the missing part for those who are interested. You need two of them. One on each side. I painted mine to match my truck. The only part that shows is the edge part of the washer. These fixed the clunking play in the tailgate and it moves real easy again. Two of them were just under 7 dollars from the stealer.
