What is on my T-case?

    So I was under my truck today running wires for a light in my camper shell and I noticed this thing connected to my transfer case. Looking from the back of the truck, it is to the right of the T-case. Any idea what it is? The part that is shaped like an upside down 'U' feels like rubber and it flexes left/right and up/down. I looked at my brothers 2001 and it is not there. FYI this truck is new to me so that is why I'm wondering.

    A small handful of select mods.
    Looks like a counter weight and vibration dampener. It keeps things running smoothly. :)

    04 Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab SAW 2.0's Alcan's Ion 171 wheels 15x8 (-27mm bs) 32" BFG AT's
    it's supposed to dampen driveline vibrations. ....i took mine off and haven't noticed any difference. ..but it costs over $300 to get a replacement, ..so i didn't throw it away.

    In that picture it doesn't look like it's actually attached to anything except the transfer case

    Yeah that's why I am confused. It is bolted onto the transfer case but nothing is attached to it. Seems like something else should be there.
