Spotlight Question

I'm thinking about putting a police-style spotlight on my truck. How do people who have them on their trucks like them? Any issues? I'd also like to see pictures please . But, my main concern (couldn't find the answer searching) is drilling a bunch of holes in my truck. I'd like to be able to remove the spotlight if I ever want to, but obviously this would leave a bunch of holes in the driver's side column of my truck. Does anybody know if there is a way to somewhat easily plug the holes, or would this have to be a permanent mod? Thanks in advance for the help

i know thats not really what you asked but if you dont want it to be permanent then you cant really have a police style light

 

there wasnt anything below your post. but im assuming your talking about the A-pillar lights. i beleive is A-pillar. like the cops

but your gonna have to drill holes.i wanted one too but they are expensive

 

How does the Golight mount on your truck? I'm assuming it still involves drilling holes in the truck? Plus, I'm not a huge fan of the look of Golights. JMO

Yeah I have used those but they never seem to be where I need it, always digging around for it. I do a lot of hunting, and I'd like to have something thats always right there when I need it. Guess I really just need to either man up and drill or settle for the handheld haha.

My bad forgot to add the picture hold on.....but yeah that's what I'm talking about thanks. Yeah they are kind of expensive but it would be nice and convenient. Did you end up going with any other kind of spotlight or just give up on the idea?

 

there are go lights that are magnetic. all you do is put it where you want, plug it into power, and its remote controlled. I've actually been considering one myself. Just google "golight" you'll probably get excited over what you find.

 

haha i know what you mean about digging around for stuff...its even worse with a reg cab since i have to get out to look around haha, but maybe if you just get a mag lite for the times you need a light really quick and then have your spotlight out when your out hunting. those mag lites are crazy bright

i really don’t think you want one!! they create allot of wind noise and over time they start to flop around and move some going down the road. dad’s work truck has one. they maybe bright and right at hand. but not worth it. and thats coming from some that has been around them for my hole live. dad work the state wildlife resources. and has had a few truck in his 30 or so + years. he hates them.

 

Really? That's partly what I'm afraid of. A few of my buddies have them on their trucks and they're really nice and handy, but I don't know anybody that's had one for a long time. I haven't noticed the wind noise in their trucks, but I would hate for the thing to start flopping around after I'd had it for awhile, especially with something so permanent!

 

yeah! i mean it’s fine for a few years than if the wind gets it right is will flop back (kinda like if you wear using it) and it will do it just going down the road. off roading (witch i assume you will be doing) i would say it would get annoying really fast. dad has done allot with work. (looking for spot lighters, baiting sites all kinds of stuff. it will take time to get loss like that but the more you use it the less time it will take. dad dose not even use it really. but it still dose it.
