WTF VHT?!!!

Had some VHT laying around that I had bought to do some stuff on for my motorcycle and thought I'd ease into the tail light black out by doing the high mount first. Wet sanded and cleaned (with alcohol) and then painted two light coats and got this result basically. This is actually a pic of it AFTER i sanded off the first attempt. Was left with just the dark lines you see. I continued sanding until those were gone and then sanded some more for good measure. On the second go round used 320, 400, and 1000 all wet.

Will clear fill this in and make it all nicey nicey? Do I need to sand this before I clear if that's the case? OR does someone have a Toyota part number for the high mount lens? FACK.

 

Holy shit lol. I've sprayed my tails and third brake light and they came out perfect. Take a look at this thread.

Could also be a humidity issue. Humidity and drying paint are not a good combo. Also as already stated, use very light coats. Good luck!

 

Im coming to the realization VHT isnt worth it...my cab light did the same thing. Did my tails a couple times, then got pulled over at night because apparently they weren't even visable. So im sanding it all off and only putting one light coat on the tails until i can get some new tail lights.
