    Hi Guys

has anyone had issues with their alloys bubbling? I have a 2009 DC TRD, the rims are in great shape... but I noticed they are "bubbling" in a few spots.

Only way to avoid it is to run steels in the winter. The salt gives the aluminum ones a very hard time.

I have the bubbling happening to my otherwise non abused TRD alloy rims. It is disappointing, and eventually will look like crap, as the rusting beneath the painted alloys becomes worse. Some people have had luck taking their truck to the dealer and complaining under warranty, and Toyota repaired the rims. Others have brought their rims to a shop to have them blasted and refinished. Eventually it will happen again though. The alloys are actually painted silver gray and coated with a clearcoat, that once the salts get in, that it. I never had that happen to my Jeep's alloys, so it tells me cost cutting on Toyota's part may be part of the problem. Good luck.

No bubbling here but the paint on these rims chip so easily! The stupid tire shop put clip on wheel weights when I got my new tires and the chipped area has gotten bigger and bigger

Same here with bubbling. Thought it could have been brake dust but the rears are also bubbling. Looks like bad closeup but I honestly don't care anymore.

I was successful in getting rims on my '05 replaced by the dealer by using posts from this forum a couple years ago while still under warranty. The new rims are having the same issue though and bubbling again, seems to be a bad design to handle any sort of salt exposure.

Just a quick note guys... the dealer agreed to send them off to be refinished. Just got them back... they look OK... but not like the factory finish.

Here is a quick pic i took of them. They look better then they did before. But not a factory look either.
I just hope they hold out for a few more years.
