If you have a jbl system like someone poked at before, you will need an digital adapter like scosche makes to put a new deck in. Installing a new deck on my JBL system was a BIG improvement. The JBL door speakers are built with decent magnets, but they are still paper cones.

Back in the day when I was an installer they used to make an adaptor for speaker wires from the deck to change them to RCA and also reduced the amps so you could run an aftermarket amp on a factory deck that did not have the pre-outs.

That is what I am looking for now.

I have a 2011 (non JBL), when I pulled the old speakers out (to replace them with some new Kenwoods and a Pioneer 3300), I couldn't believe the cheapness of the stock speakers - it's beyond anything you can imagine.

I think the amazing part is that the stock speakers sound as good as they do- most transistor radios have bigger magnets.

Magnets aren't everything. I've seen 15" subs with magnets the size of 6x9s that perform very well.

The HU I installed in my truck made a HUGE difference, it's much louder now.
