Uwharrie Hurricane run Sunday

Anyone interested in doing a run on Sunday at Uwharrie when the back side of the hurricane is passing us. Right now it is me and jandrews. Who wants to have some fun?

 

You may even have a chance to see "the one whose name cannot be spoken" there.

He is spoken of only in rooms cloaked in shadow. Some claim he doesn't exist. Some claim he never existed. Some say that speaking his name damns you to an eternity of Tool songs and fruit-flavored moonshine.

Others claim he was just some small town drifter whose hair was migrating from his forehead to his chin and liked to spin a tire once in a while.

Whatever he was, he riled the powers that be somethin' awful. One day they decided to deal with him, and they used every tool they had in the box, even the big one. They erased almost every trace of his having ever been around. They took his name out of the mouth of others. They silenced anyone who had ever spoken with him. And they turned him into something you couldn't prove, but something you couldn't dismiss either.

Whether or not that's what they wanted to do, I couldn't tell you. All I can tell you is what they did, wittingly or not.

In any event, just like Sasquatch and the Loch Ness Monster, his existence is widely debated based on questionable photographic evidence from one incident in the wilderness:

As for how slick its gonna be . Heard that the hurricane may not hit that far west. Hope atleast some good rain does to make it fun.

I'm hopping to get a chance to finally get to use the winch finally.

 

The semi-good news is that by Sunday the tail end of the hurricane will be over that area, if it's over it at all. That means the serious wind will have already gone through, so most of the treefall should be done.

I expect the area will get some damn good rain, so hopefully things will at least be washed out and rutted. If we time it right and it's still getting some rain, it could be nice and slick while we're there.

Recommended special equipment is chainsaw, fuel for it.

I may camp Sat night and give you guys a conditions report via text.
