Check my build thread...too much to list.
I like having background noise so I either put the fan on or have some slow beat music playing.

LOL! I'd rather have freezing balls than sweaty balls when I'm sleeping!! I go to bed with the thermostat set at 55, fan on medium speed (so it's not too loud), window open a crack for fresh air, and if I'm not feeling very tired I'll read a book for a half hour or so. But I'm the same way, OP. I've stayed up till 5am just to finsh a good book!!! So sometimes that can backfire... lol

Read my before post. He was commenting on 73 being cool (to me not him) saying 55 is cool, but in fl 73 is way cool and add a fan to the mix. I have to be cold to sleep also.

Have the fan going pretty much all the time and I don't drink soda or eat anything super sugary. I think it's just the distraction factor and not being able to get comfortable. Once again I slept in my sisters old room and feel better...I may just sleep in there for a while

Due to severe back problems and 4 spine surgeries, I am well medicated when I go to sleep... here is my cocktail: Hydromorphone (Dilaudid), Elavil (Amitriptyline), and Gabepentin (Neurontin).

    Sleep like a baby.

I used to have lots of sleep problems, and there are a bunch of things you should really adhere to in order to in order to program your brain/body for sleep.

    - Your bed is for sleep, sex, and maybe making a small fort. But seriously, don't watch TV, read (unless it's precursor to sleep), play on the phone or computer, or do anything else on your bed that makes your brain disassociate it with sleep. This is actually really important. It took me a long time to re-associate my bed with sleep, but now when I lay down, I'm usually out in less than 30 minutes. It's also probably the reason you slept great on your sister's bed that night.

    - Stop using electronics 1 hour before bed. This includes TV. Electronics stimulate your optical nerves which in turn stimulate your brain. They make your brain synapses fire more often which makes it harder to shut them down when you want them to.

    - Eat at least 2 hours before bed. This does 2 things. 1.) your body has a chance to digest and settle, so as to not keep you up at night. You've also burned through most of the calories and should be winding down. 2.) It helps you maintain a healthy weight. Eating close to bedtime is horrible for putting on weight. When sumo wrestlers want to gain a lot of weight, they eat then go to sleep. Your body stores the calories as fat because you are not burning the normal amount you would be if you were up and around.

    - Don't work out close to bed time. Working out opens your arteries to pump more blood , and it takes longer for them to settle down for rest after your finished. So don't do the whole pushups-until-you're-tired thing, you're working against yourself.

    - If you can't sleep, get out of bed. If you can't fall asleep within 30 minutes, get out of bed and go do something else. By continuing to lay in bed, you are disassociating your bed with sleep, and you are making your brain overactive by thinking about how you can't sleep. Do something to distract yourself, then when you feel your eyelids starting to droop, go back to bed.

    - See a chiropractor. Sometimes there are little aches and pains and pinches you aren't completely aware of, but by getting an adjustment, they free up. This is true if you have chronic headaches, too.

    Have a couple of kids.
Chasing toddlers around wears me the F* out!

More seriously though, I also have problems falling asleep. I've just made it habit to always be in bed at a decent time, and if I can't fall asleep, at least I am relaxed and resting. Eventually I pass out. I'm a very light sleeper though so I wake up at any noise or disturbance.
I have used melatonin. Had to take it for several days before I started noticing the effects, but it did help some.
