I have probably half a dozen multi tools laying around that I use from time to time but I ALWAYS have my leatherman Skeletool on my belt loop. Feel naked if I go anywhere without it.

    Tools I can't live without:

-Snap On 3/8 Semi-Deep Impact Socket Set (8-19mm)...possibly one of the best things...ever.
-16 inch Channel Lock pliers (and a smaller pair too!)

A little of this and a little of that.
I find myself using my Gear wrenches a lot lately. Also, I'd be in the dark without my Streamlight headlamp. Pretty useful when you need both hands and illumination.

Semi-Deep you say? Now that sounds like a good idea!

Nothing from Snap-On is horribly priced. It really is built that much better than the Chinese-made shit that most retail outlets are pushing these days.

    Some comedian said
"all you need is duct tape and WD40.
If it should move and won't, use WD40.
If it shouldn't move and it does, use the duct tape"

Best retail is Craftsman, might find some KD, but the good KD sets are very rarely found in retail.

Some things are worth the coin. Some things are not. I've been so tempted to buy the 1/4 Semi-Deep Chrome sockets...$177....my little set of cheapo Stanley's have been gettin the job done though.

I like a good amount of the K&D Tool line. Solid professional quality at a very decent price.

I usually try to keep SO to "specialty tools" and shit I don't have $$ for at the moment (Got about a $650 tab with the truck at the moment)

If any of you guys know a person that works at Boeing ask if you can buy Snap-On tools under their Boeing account. Boeing is the largest account at snap-on so they get the highest discount (about 50% off) just a tip for you guys

Stainless Steel Zip ties, Silicon Tape, and Vise-Grips are my favorite items. But I have a crap load of tools for someone my age :)

Klein wire strippers and crimpers. About 30 bucks each, use them every day at work, 5 years after purchase they show almost no wear, good stuff!

Makita lithium ion impact driver. Use every day, makes life easy, seems like it will run forever.

Skil 4.0V lithium ion palm size electric screwdriver. Sometimes the Makita is too much power.

Streamlight "Jr. LED" flashlight. Runs on AAs, 60 lumens, not too bright or too dim. Enough of a beam to see across an attic, still plenty of flood for up close. $30 bucks, lasted 2 years of me dropping it on tile floors before the LED went out. Shipped it to Streamlight with a big dent in the head, got it back two weeks later with new led, head, switch, just like a new one again. Cost me $6 for the UPS. Can't beat that kind of service.

And of course, the 2009 Tacoma my boss lets me use to haul me and my tools around to make us some $$. :D

Makita makes a lithium ion impact screw driver - if your skill goes kaput, check it out. Impact good for self tapping screws like your drill.

I've seen those Makita impact screwdrivers. Maybe someday.:)

I work for an appliance repair / HVAC company. Mostly do kitchen and laundry appliances, but if we get busy in the winter I do furnaces too. I've dabbled in AC too, but I won't call myself an AC tech.

i have had a leatherman for years, never carried it with me much just one of those things I keep in a kitchen drawer, nightstand, etc..you are right it has been really useful and kept me from looking for the single tool when I didn't feel like getting it.
