Need Help With Tires

Hi i am new to this site. I live on Cape Cod and i just got my new 2011 Tacoma Double Cab. I bought rims on ebay but i need help picking out tires. Here is the link to the rims they are 17 x 7

My first question is what is the biggest tires i can put on without any rubbing ? and my second is i want to put 31 inch tires on and if they will not fit what lift would i have to put in for there to be no rubbing ?

Congrats on the new truck. Is it 2 or 4 wheel drive? What size are your stock wheels and tires?

 

Your truck came with 31's. Either 265.65.17 if a trd sport, 265/75/16 if a trd offroad, or 245/75/16 if a sr5 or base model.

So you'll have absolutely no issues running a 31. Lots of folks on here step up to 32's 265/70/17 in your case. No issues there either.

 

its has 4 wheel drive and it isnt the TRD model its just a base model. If i could fit 32's that would be great. any suggestions on tires. i will mostly be driving the truck to school but on the weekend i take it offroading to get to ponds and fish. thnx, Ben

What if mine is the 2010 offroad prerunner whats the bigger i can fit without rubbing....

And if i go anybigger ill have to lift my truck?

 

KPT makes a great suggestion with the 265/70R17. There are a lot of great options in this size. If you are looking for lot of bang for your buck I'd recommend the Falken Rocky Mountains, this is a great tire for your money. I've ran these off-road in 7 states in everything from highway, gravel, dirt, mud, sand, snow and slick rock, with the exception of deep mud they have done excellent for me.

If you want something a little more aggressive, the Duratrac may be a great choice for you. This is an excellent tire. Many people consider this tire a hybrid AT/MA. This tire is also winter rated.

i think im going to go with the goodyear DuraTrac but wondering if i have to get the 265/70R17 or 285/70R17 ?

 

The 265/70R17 will be best for a 7" wide wheel.

 

You will need a 3" lift, wheels with approx 4.5" backspacing, and will need to trim your fender well plastic, and possibly chop your cab mounts, to run the 285's.

No difference. You can fit 265/75/16
