with a logging tie down strap the hooks are wide and wont twist. just tie rope around the tree and the strap hooks to the rope and tighten it...

if the tie down strap is just wrapped around the tree, the flat will be vertical

if you get a sling woudn the tree and hook it to that, it will do very well i believe

we used to just tie a rope around the treeand hook the strap to the rope. so the rope was horizontal and the hook would be horizontal as well as the strap

I slacklined between a tree and my hitch once haha but 5ft might be pushin it. Usually 3-4 is what I do simply because it's easier to get up and is just a bit over hip height. I need to get one of those straps they make specifically for it or else I just end up with my line rigged up in impossible knots and what not.

ya, we usually dont put it that high either, only the people who are good ride it

i try to walk the 2-3ft (aka just low enough that i can stand over it)

you really dont need one of the fancy ratchet lines or anything

    just tubular webbing and carabiners

i could get a real good set up with 100ft of tubular webbing, 2 ten foot pieces of tubular webbing, and 5 carabiners....about 50-60$ is my guess...about 6 bucks for each biner and .36$ for the webbing

so ya really dont need one of the 80-100 or more ratchet lines

then look on youtube to get it set up

yeah I set up a slackline with a ratchet strap and rope at my house last summer. I could walk but turning around was the tough part for me. I know guys who are crazy good the jumping on the line and doing all sorts of tricks.
