Valance Painting question

so i painted my valance the other day and the paint seemed to bubble and not stick has anyone elase had this problem and or know how to fix it?

i know its probablly some rookie mistake but im cursed when it comes to painting.

 

what kind of paint did you use? did you clean the surface before you painted it?

 

thats cause you didn't prep the surface correctly... you didn't sand it right?

 

just go over it with 4 coats of Plati-dip....it won't chip and your problems solved

 

i didnt sand was i supposed to ? and whats plati dip ?

FWIW, if you use bedliner, you don't have to do that much prep work, that stuff sticks to anything. You need to sand that paint off and start over. Any paint you put over the top of that will just do the same thing.

Light even coats so there's no run! I used krylon fusion over a year ago and it still looks perfect!

 

Well yea if you wanted it to adhere but thats way permanent...but i guess since you used paint there's no going back...which is fine. Just use very fine sand paper and gently go over the area and apply some plasti-dip...its a black rubberized coating that you can but at most home improvement stores

And another one goes to the dark side of plasti-dip...

I used spray on bedliner from Autozone, worked pretty well but you have to do light coats otherwise it runs. If you use plastidip, take off the masking tape right after you get done spraying otherwise it sticks to the tape and you won't get a clean edge.

 

Plasti-dip is for fools, click on my build thread in my sig and check out the truck bed liner I used, will last much longer than plasti-derp.
