    what the... :frusty:

Never herd of someone jacking tail lights. Interesting. Was it secured parking lot you were in? if so there may be something you can do about it but most-likely not, maybe worth checking. there has to be some way that you can tie your tail lights in with a small piece of high strength cable or something . I would look into that. Most thief asshole want fast in fast out. Cable will slow them down. they may be able to get your light off but not take it. another thing you can try is having a rottweiler in your truck.

TrueBlue08-funny you should mention that. My camper shell provides my 2-200lb mastiff & mastiff/dane mix with a cozy ride. His greeting would have been MUCH different had they been on their beds in the back!

another thing you can try is connecting a wire from your tail lights to a strategically placed flame thrower mounted just under the rear bumper. pull on the cable and... well you get the picture.

Toyota hasn't fixed the problem since coming out with the 2nd generation back in 2005...same with not addressing the stolen catalytic converter problem. That said why would they? They make good money selling spare parts and give ya a good screwing in labor costs when replacing them.

I was recently in Peru and a lot of cars there have security bars around their headlights and tail lights. I guess that there's a big problem there with people stealing head and tail lights especially amongst the taxi's.

Bart parking lots aren't known for being safe. Cars are stolen/vandalized in those parking lots all the time. 4 people were robbed (1 shot) outside of South Hayward Bart just a couple of months ago. I know of people that drive their crappy car to Bart to avoid problems with theft.

Who did you buy the set from?
There is a guy named "Mark" setting tail lights, a bed extender and tacoma jack on craigslist. Hmm...I wonder?

I recommend Glock safe-action pistols to stop criminals and thieves.

This makes me wonder about my truck since that I just got it. I do have a hard shell tonneau cover on it so they won't be able to get into the tailgate(It's always locked, nothing to steal anyways(well tailgate and taillights)). I assume with that being on their they aren't able to get at the taillights either. I am going to look at the taillights and see if I can rig something up to where they couldn't be stolen, or at least make them harder to steal.
I'm sorry to all the people who have had their property stolen. Hopefully we can come up with an idea to where members on this board and others can prevent this in some way shape or form.

Okay, well this stinks for sure. We can complain but its not going to stop the theives.

Let's start putting our collective heads together and come up with a mod to prevent or at least slow them down. So far, I've heard cables and star nuts. I haven't looked carefully at this but are there other options for those with open beds?

Good a few comments now starting about how to really solve this problem. Keep the constructive ideas coming boys. We'll out smart 'em instead of feeling like we want to injure them...hopefully
