A friend claims to have read a Gen 3 Tacoma will be offered middle of the summer 2013. Didn't remember where he saw it but seemed think that the 4.0L v6 would be improved for better mpg, longer service intervals etc along the lines of the Tundra 4.6L and 5.7L. Have searched but not found this info. Can anyone confirm this? Sure sounds good. Haven't seen any engine changes suggested in the MEGA thread.
    Thanks
    Tom

I am guessing 4 years on this design.

Take a look back. 1st gens ran 95-2000 on basically the same design with a few tweaks, then in 01 then it got a new front through 04 (with some small changes) until a new design in 05 and a new front in 2012... It works. Why overhaul a good thing?

Toyota replaces two of the vehicles that built its reputation and adds a high-profile newcomer within the next year.

The new Camry midsize sedan just went on sale. A new version of the Tacoma midsize pickup is to arrive in the second half of 2012. "The Tacoma is the volume small pickup," said Hall. "It's a core vehicle for Toyota."

I can't be the only one who think this...It's just the TX Pro Baja edition which has already been announced.

    Straight from the http://pressroom.toyota.com/releases/2012+toyota+tacoma+baja+editions+reveal.htm
"The production version of this limited-edition package will be built for only two months in late spring of 2012. We’ll have more information for consumers on Toyota.com after the first of the year."

I highly highly highly doubt there will be a super Tacoma in the summer of 2012 with an updated version coming for the new 2012 and an updated TRD Off Road Baja coming in late spring...What the hell, lets make one more for this year...three's a charm right. Not likley. At the earliest they would wait until 2013 but most likely would wait until 2014 or 2015 when the historicly expected full change would be. If you change vehicles too frequently the value diminishes. The resale value goes down and repair costs go up since the availablility of parts thins out. Minor changes year to year keep up with the times with a major change or update here and there, not three major updates in on one year. It's going to be the new 2012, and the new TX pro baja (750 to be built). If it is another version of the 2012 tacoma...I'll give you a dollar.

The 2012 model will be a short year.Expect a redesign 2013 model around july or august of next year. The 2012s were supposed to be the redesign but delays backed the date too late. This is a hunch I think will come true.Remember the world is supposed to end dec,21,2012 so we need the redesign before that happens so we can go out happy.
