Rust Removal

These pics are off of the wifes 06 Explorer but since the Ford forum sucks I thought I would ask you guys.

Is there anything I can use that is safe to use on the paint to get the rust stains off? I am going to replace the bolts that have rusted but would like to clean it up. Any suggestions?

 

Try some CRL. A small amount on a rag or sponge. CRL is a Calcium/Rust/Lime remover. Works great on rust bleed.

Also Navel Jelly on a small paint brush and let it sit and then wash it down. Wear gloves 'cause that stuff will smoke your skin.

 

yeah...I'd go with some CLR to break it up.

If there are shadows or stain left over- Use some clay bar or polishing compound to finish it up.

 

Should I dilute the CLR or use it straight up

 

Try a straight shot of it on a little area....I doubt you'll have to water it down.
