i agree. i don't let my dogs ride in the back seat of either vehicle (4runner or tacoma) bc even though they do mind me, they are a little on the hyper side. and they have claws and they shed. i think my doberman would be alright, but my wife doesn't trust him.

like i said before, you can't go wrong with either vehicle. i have both.

    Lies.

The bed on a tacoma is useless anyway. Not to mention that with the back seats folded down the 4runner (4th gen anyway) has more length and width than a short bed tacoma. Obviously you are limited by the height though

Haul some mulch and gravel in your 4runner and get back to me.

Bed length isn't a problem with bed extender.

+1. I have 1 x 2 yr old and another on the way. Its the reason I bought the truck. Buy a cap and put the dogs back there. Dont get anyone started on leaving dogs and kids in the back seat. Can you say projectiles?

I'd never consider buying an SUV. You can do so much more with a truck.

Who said you can't hose down the back of a 4runner? This guy did it with his Mercedes CLS!

:shrugs: To each his own. Works fine for me.
    Either
    1) That's not his car
    2) He's an idiot
    3) Hobo's had a crazy ass orgy all in that car
but for sure something is getting damaged in that car, and my bet is its going to start with that fancy NAV system he sprayed.

Yes, they will work. After you spend the extra money on them. And get a brake controller, if you're towing close to the vehicle's limits.

And nevermind the fact that you can hitch a trailer to the truck and have twice as much capacity or more by volume (please read this so I don't have to deal with any stupid "payload doesn't increase" argument) compared to the trailer on an SUV.

k, you're going on ignore now because I don't want to catch whatever's infected your brain.

    This man has things right.

    This.

I love the styling of the new 4runners, too, but I don't think I could ever get rid of my current Tacoma (unless it's for another Tacoma, lol).

    I've had 4 Tacomas:
    '02 Extended Cab
    '04 Double Cab
    '07 Double Cab Short Bed
'11 Double Cab Long Bed with a Leer Shell

I have a 3 year old, am trying for another baby, and have a small dog....my '11 Tacoma DCLB w/shell is perfect for all ocassions. Can fit 2 carseats and one smaller person in the backseat. Tons of room for the dog/gear in the shell.

If you get the 4runner, make sure it is the exact one you want, otherwise, you will probably regret it later...
