Yes, they are available powdercoated in just about any color you like. I paint mine but I tear them up often. :) We send them out to an industrial powder coating company, who sandblasts them, dips them in etchant, then coats and goes thru a conveyorized oven. It is the best powder you can get. ;)

Those a arm skids are from Total Chaos. Demello sells them too! :)

The BMWs will remain a secret... :)

Those are Total Chaos bolt-on skids for the stock lower control arms.

And I'm a little late to the party here, but welcome to the site, Bud!

When you change your fluids and grease, does it make a mess. I see there's holes, but it looks like they're be alot of collection on the skid. Or do you just take them off everytime.

Welcome Bud - What's the weight difference between 1/8 and 3/16?

How cool is it to be on a forum where you talk to the owner/manufacturer of the product that you want to buy? AWESOME!!!

Thanks for the welcomes guys! Sorry I just cant seem to keep up with all the forums anymore. When we started 10 years ago, there were only 2! :) If you ask a question and I don't respond, please call or email, OK?

The 1/8 ones are 1/3 less than the 3/16 ones. :) ( smart alek! )

    Here's real numbers:
    4 pieces in 3/16" are 144#
4 pieces in 1/8" are 102# ( the crossmember is the same thick tubing for both, so that is why it isn't exactly 1/3 less. :)
gas skid for an access, or doublecab weighs 47# and 32 in 1/8"
gas skid for a doublecab longbed weighs 52# and 35 in 1/8"

    Thank you!
It is a very cool world we live in as far as contact, eh?
A guy asked me to autograph his skids at a wheeling event a few years ago. I laughed. He was serious! I didn't want to offend him so I did. He made the same comment, that how often do you get to meet the designer/builder/owner. I kinda get it. Those of you that know me, know I'm just a very regular guy, but it is an honor and great privilege to build stuff that everyone loves! :) We listen very hard to incorporate any feedback from folks too, if there is something we can adjust or modify to make it work better. Thanks for all the support and confidence! :)
Bud (engineer, owner, tester, abuser of skids)

i can definately attest that bud is a down to earth regular guy who will sit and BS withyou about trucks all evening after wheeling...and he wheels the CRAP out of that truck of his...i remember the first time i met you was Tellico for the SETTORA takeover a couple years ago when Justin had the gold runner and you took your taco up helicopter pad!

    that was awesome!

Riding with those boys from NC sold me that day on budbuilt stuff and wheeling in general...and when i ripped my skid off i called bud the next day without even looking for anything else :D

It's very cool to see manufacturers participating in these discussions. I'm saving my money up for some Bud Builts.

No idea on that one. I'm not a fan of anything that hangs low or creates a potential point of failure so I'm just running a normal drain plug. Sorry I can't help this time around.

Hey Tiger - what's the level of effort to drop the skids? Can you just drop the first one or do they fit together like lego's and require all of them to be dropped? Curious.

i took tigerfans skids off back this summer for some work on his truck. they arent bad really........mostly just heavy. the front skid kinda bolts to the stock location, and i think to other places, then the 2nd skid bolts to the front skid and the rear cross member that comes with the skids. 2 people can tackle it easily.
