If you are looking to get a floor jack my recommendation is to stay 3 tons or higher and to get an aluminum jack. They are so much easier. To work with and maneuver.

Aluminum ftw. 3 ton is over kill. My harbor freight 1.5 ton lifts my 4runner and the tacoma no problem. It struggled with my dodge but did lift it

I would be wary about getting one that is less than 3 tons for the Tacoma. The Taco is quite heavy up front. My 2.5 tons Jack wanted to cry every time I used it.

I just got from Sears a 4 Ton Jack and Stands from their "professional" line. I have to say, I love it. They were on sale in these weeks. I do not know if it is the one you have on your links as I can't access them without getting redirected to the SearsPR site...

In any case, if you are willing to spend a bit, but not too much, go with that 4 Ton set from Sears. You will love it. It is heavy though, but I kind of like that about it.

Is your 2.5 ton broken? My 1.5 ton lifts the whole font end without any issues

Nope. It works fine. But I did not feel comfortable as the jack looked like it was under too big a load. I think it is just that for things like this I feel it is better to have a bit of overkill to be on the safe side. I have seen too many accidents happen.

I have this jack from Northern Tool. Works excellent. Low enough to get under my MINI and jacks high enough to get my truck up off the ground.

I bought this a few weeks ago when it was on sale for 70 bucks. lifts to 20 inches.
I also have 3 ton jackstands. haven't used them yet, but will in a little bit.

I have a jack that is a jack stand with a bottle jack attached to a arm on the side. At first when I saw it I thought it was cheesy, but figured I would give it a try as I could always return it.
I now wish I had bought 2. It is great as the foot print is fairly small, and now all I have to do is jack it up and the jack stand locks automatically as it goes up. No having to play around with a seperate jack stand trying to get the right height.

I'll look up the brand if anyone is interested.

How tall do your little ones(that didn't work) extend?

I've got some short ones I used while I had a lowered truck ( I think they go up to 17"). Haven't needed them yet on this truck, but I'm afraid they may not work well for this truck.

I bought a 2.5 Ton floor jack from Harbor Freight about 6 years ago for $35 at a sidewalk sale. Still works great, just leaks a little jack oil over the last couple years so I have to fill it up occassionally. When I lifted the Tacoma I had to start using a 6" long 4x4 wood block to give it a little extra lift. It lifts the truck enough to put jackstands under the frame rails and lifts my 285's about 2" off the ground with the suspension drooped. I jack up from that jack point in the middle on the crossmember then put the jack stands under the frame rails. I just jack the rear up from the pumpkin.
