Damn this is an old thread...Didnt that problem with the Prius turn out to be driver error or bullshit claims?

Yes! And the government did everything possible to keep this issue alive and tear down toyota to boost sales of gm automobiles. GM was a 60% government owned company at that time. They had to do something to show that their bailout worked.

I had unintended acceleration the other day...then I realized I accidentally bumped the cruise control button and turned the cruise on by mistake.

I have a manual transmission so if that happened at a light the engine would just rev.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
personally i think the whole accelerator pedal conspiracy was caused because people in America are getting too fat (no offense big guys) and their feet are getting stuck in between the brake and gas pedals or something.
Either way the whole thing could have been prevented, it is just some people are too stupid to figure out that all you have to do is put the vehicle in neutral and shut off the engine or just let the darn thing blow up! Cars can be replaced, lives cant.

    guys.
I've been hiding it for awhile

but my 2000 TRD OR always accelerates explosively, and without my knowledge.

Whenever a moped driven by a large elderly woman is driving in the middle of the road I black out and my evil possessed truck accelerates to the point where I pass her, then I shift into neutral and clean my pants once I've arrived at my location

im going to toyota about this, something needs to be done

In the 70s Chevys would break engine mounts and floor the gas now that’s unintended acceleration! The fix a cable and bracket wrapped around the upper control arm! The final blow to the Audi issue was the judge holding a woman in contempt of court and fining her $10,000 for tying up the court system after her 5th attempt to sue Audi. That whole episode by the way is where the foot on the brake before getting it out of park came from. Try this with your Tacoma press the gas and the brake at the same time while you are moving and see how far you get--- right back to idle.

You are in a parking lot and with an automatic transmission you claim your engine went to red line? With an automatic in gear to get to redline you would have to accelerate to 35 mph, or it went to red line without accelerating with the transmission slipping completely. Which was it? What was your speed when you shut it down?

I had a first gen 03 tacoma and hit the brake to slow but it seemed to be excelerating also.I wear a size 12 boot and the edge of my big foot was pushing the the gas petal also.I learned to move my foot over a little when braking because the petals are fairly close together in a compact truck.I guess you would call that driver error. Some would say its toyotas fault.
