My local dealer just told me the '16 will arrive in August or at that time one can be ordered.

Toyota needs to release specs already! I actually expect them next month.

I have an 08 DC sport. I like the longer bed but when I was looking I really wanted the offroad instead. I found a killer deal on the sport that I couldn't pass up.

When I upgrade in a couple of years maybe I'll have to decide again. Lots of things to consider. I don't do a tons of offroading but I do get out there one in a while. I can fit my 4wheeler on the bed of the truck right now(I know, I should get a trailer). I want to buy a fishing boat(16 tracker or something like that) this summer so I will be towing that. I can put my kayak in the longer bed right now. I'm probably better of with the sport, but part of me wants the offroad.

What makes you want the offroad? The locker and atrac? Keep in mind you need to engage the locker frequently to prevent it not engaging when you need it. And you can always put a better aftermarket locker in a sport and have the best of both worlds including the LSD.

I was at the local dealer yesterday for service on my SO's Camry. A salesman told me the 2016 Tacoma would be in the showroom in September 2015.

So that means engine specs will be released around then. If I remember correctly, the new F-150's MPG numbers weren't released until the product launched. Could be a while before we hear any more information.

So we can assume they'll start to have the color options available then too?

Goodness, I was lurking on the Coloradofans.com forums and saw several posts of people with check engine lights, door latching issues, leaks, dash squeaks, wiper issues etc. Go see for yourself. Not playing fan boy, that just sucks GM still cannot escape quality issues. Yes, Tacomas have their flaws, but I don't see those issues on this forum with brand new trucks.

Never buy a GM product in the first 2 years of production. Unlike Toyota they don't fully test there products then they always add features to the vehicles. Whereas Toyota does more research and usually does a midcycle styling refresh.

I remember the telescope thing. How much did it cost to fix that?

That's why Toyota sometimes takes a while to introduce new engines. Transmissions etc. they want to make sure it works from the getgo. GM would be the company with the faulty telescope.

I am not knocking GM and really think they have made strides since the government bailout. However, just go look at the 2015 Colorado/Canyon forum. A substantial chunk of posts are about problems people are having before they even hit 10,000 miles.
I know if I dropped $36k on a BRAND NEW truck and I was having issues only months in, I would be really upset.
