you would have to be dense and unwilling to look at the facts or solid competition to buy a Chevy mid size.. they offer nothing special over any other trucks in that range or higher.

    The S-10 was garbage too.

GM is plagued by their reputation and reflects in its sales of certain models. Wont surprise me if you start seeing Colorado/Canyons marked down with rebates to boost sales end of the year like they do on the FS trucks to compete with the Ram/Ford.

You do know the the last of the government owned shares were sold in late 2013? The Government no longer has anything to do with GM financially.

I read the article and wasn't too impressed by the author's "research".

Even though the GM twins were out, I still bought a 2015 Tacoma.

    The reasons were:

    (1) The Colorado and Canyon are new and GM always had "issues" with new models
    (2) There were not that many to even look at (much less purchase)
    (3) Didn't want to pay sticker (or even more)
    (4) It looked a bit bigger than the Tacoma
    (5) It cost more than the Tacoma
    (6) Wasn't sure that I liked the video game HVAC controls
    (7) Didn't want to wait to buy a truck.
    (8) Rusted frames not with standing, Toyota has pretty good quality

In the 80's I had a GMC S15 4x4 that I absolutely loved, but that was a different GM back then.

I think that GM will close the gap with Toyota for sure as there is no where to go but up when you don't even offer a mid size pickup truck. But we will see if they are "poaching" Tacoma sales or are stealing sales from their own full size models.

I would be hard pressed to buy a new Colorado when it's only been out for such a short while.

...but they lost $11.2 billion on the deal. Facts are facts.

I'm no GM fan, but it's unfair to say whether it'll be reliable or not yet. Have to give it some time.

I do find it odd, though, that it was rated as having nearly as good resale as the Tacoma. How would anyone know that?

I'm not into what options are offered on the new GM models but, my question would be, do they offer all of the same variants that Tacoma offers? Have they been out long enough to get any feedback on performance? Offroad capabilities?

give it a few months, they will be producing more and the advertising campaign will become more evident. they'll sell more. whether it will ever overtake the tacoma, i doubt it. but the combined number for the GM twins is not bad considering how new the product is and the number of truck buyers that may not be early adapters. think of how many people you see on here wanting the next gen, but wanting to wait until "it's been out for a while to get the bugs worked out"

I know that the author tries to be generous and group the two of them together but the Colorado sold less than 6K and the Tacoma was about 11.5K so I just called it double. I am sure that Toyota could re-badge the Tacoma as a Scion and a Lexus too and sell more. Even if you group they still were out sold by a third.

The Scion version will be the "Redmond." It'll come with wifi and your choice of stickers. The Lexus will be the "Seattle," and will come with all the finery of a 1975 Lincoln Mark V.

Truth be told, the fact that the GM twins haven't been out very long and there's a very real shortage of them makes their current sales figures VERY impressive if you ask me. Their short time sitting on the dealer lots is quite telling too. A truck that has been out less than half a year is doing pretty well against the segment leader that has a 10+year proven design. They already raped Nissan who's been #2 for a long time. And how many football fans just saw the barrage of commercials for the new Chevy? If anything, I'm expecting sales to pickup quite a bit in the next few months.

I'd call it ANYTHING but a failed experiment. Wake up fanboys.

I agree.... I've seen probably 10 unique ones so far at the Jackson, MI dealership. They are selling well when they're on the lot, but if they're not producing many they just won't sell many.

    +1!!!

I've owned many cars and trucks from domestics to foreign, don't get me wrong I love my taco (a lot actually), but the amount of fanboyism on this site is unreal.
