    Interesting article--thanks for posting!

Agree that there's nothing else good in this 3rd gen section--lately--nothing new to discuss. SSDD.

Toyota still builds sports cars, they just slap a Lexus badge on 'em.

The IS-F was a gorgeous machine until they quit making it. The new RC 350 has the 3.5L engine in a small coupe, and the RC-F (replacing the IS-F... because I guess a fucking 'sports car' can only have 2 doors ) has a 467 hp 5.0L V8 in the same platform. That thing is bad ASS.

So if the Tacoma is Toyota's cash cow... they should just keep feeding that beast until it dies. Toyota is killing it with all their cars. The Corolla, Camry, and Avalon all sell well, as do the Tacoma and Tundra.

And you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Lexus... so I think they're doing things right.

Considering I sold my Mustang I had for almost 10 years, and loved til the day I got rid of it, to get a Tacoma so that I could haul light stuff around (mountain bikes, house stuff from Home Depot, jet skis, etc.), this article makes me feel good that I didn't completely give up my youthful sports car for a more practical truck.

Now if only I could get the Tacoma to go 0-60 as fast and corner as well as the Mustang did...

I traded my Mustang GT for a '15 TRD OR last month. It hasn't stopped snowing since. I am sure I will miss the stang and it's V8 when the weather breaks, but I love this truck. I love sitting up high and not going around bumps and stuff.

Well, it is the first RWD vehicle I've had in a long time... Not as nimble as the Accord Sport I traded for it, but certainly more fun than our torque-steering Pathfinder family wagon.

Haha yeah I had a feeling there were some mods out there to make this possible, but then you have to lower the capabilities of the truck, making it not much more useful than the mustang. I will be happy to settle for giving up a couple of seconds 0-60 time and not being able to drive a 270 degree on-ramp at 50+ mph for the ability to pull a boat or jet skis and have the fun on the water instead. It keeps my insurance down that way!!

Unless you're talking about hauling your sports GEAR, right?

I get the need for speed, I really do. I've had fast cars. Modified 'em to handle and go faster, too. I'll have another sports car, eventually.

I freaking love those things. Is it odd that I want to see a rav4 build?

It's sporty but in a different way. Offroading sporty, mountain biking sporty, kayaking sporty, camping sporty, etc...

The camry's faster. The rav 4 has been wussified with a 4cyl this year. In all seroiusness the 15 camry has damn near 300hp and does 0-6 in 5.8secs, and as ugly as it is, its kind of a sleeper car for what it is.

I agree the "sports" models from toyota lie in the lexus brand, they seem to be getting more performance oriented with that product line. Top Gear really kicked the RC-f's ass during the last episode..

I did like what i saw in the article that toyota and BMW are working together on the next z4. MY wife wants a z4, they are cool cars, but i do not want to deal with maintaining a BMW. IF they can get some toyota reliability and simplicity coupled to BMW's styling and handling, they would have a sure fire winner!!

I read that the z4 would be on the same basis as the ft-1, is that correct?

Normal people can't get an LF-A, so there's that. Even with some Lexus offerings coming out with some "high" hp engines, whats really so special about them? The 8-speed transmissions? How sporty.

I've driven an ISF V8 and its nowhere near as fun as my Supra and was quite boring. Toyota hasn't made a sports car since 1998.

I'm about to say something that will likely start a fight.....I don't care.

The Supra wasn't a sports car. It's technically a grand tourer. Bad ass? Yep. A sports car? Nope.
