Check Engine light came on

Last night on my way home my check engine light came on. I drove the truck home about 10 miles and couldn't hear or feel a difference. my problem is its sunday afternoon and i have to drive 3 hours back to school because i have class tomorrow. Where can I go to have the code read on a sunday and can anybody think of something that would cause it to come on

 

it may sound stupid but a loose gas cap can set off the CEL.

 

Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, Firestone maybe....Any other type of place like that. If you didn't feel any issues-my guess is you can get back to school alright and then get it read...It'll put the engine into limp mode if the problem gets worse...

 

Almost any of the major auto parts stores will have a code reader. Atleast then you will be able to better guage the situation.

 

thanks guys i went to advance auto. it was the O2 sensor. just spent $190 on a new one.

 

O2 sensor would've been my guess too. Not so much of an immediate problem, but contribute to getting crap gas mileage.
