i'm looking to buy a 2010 regular cab 4x4 5spd. i wanted the dealer to install tires and wheels they told me i had my pick! so i did some searching here on tacoma world and found that with the stock suspension the largest tire i could fit was a 265/75 R16. so the question is i'm looking to get either a set of black baja wheels or atx teflon coated mojave wheels in 16 inches and i want to go with tsl thornbirds size 255/85 R16. i could not help but notice how the tsl i'm wanting is 10mm's more narrow and 10mm's higher than whats posted on the forum as the 4x4 regular cab largest tire size with a stock suspension set up. also please leave any comments regarding tire and wheel choice.

also most people running 265/75 R16 at least that i saw did not have a tire as aggressive as the thorn bird. i had these tires on a ford a couple of years ago and they are knobby knobby with giant lugs protruding from the side every third lug looks like a spike. does anybody know if this would be a problem? i'm hoping to go to the dealership tonight and do the deal so any help would be really great.

help ima buying one tonight. trying to figure out what the largest tire size i can squeeze onto this poop wagon is without any issues of course. talking to my dealer is astounding because they have NO IDEA WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE EVEN SELLING!! my salesman is to say the least a little slow so it appears that i will have to spell everything out for him.

awesome i went to the the dealer tonight and bought a 2010 regular cab 4x4 5 speed manual in magnetic gray they are including in the deal atx mojave wheels and a set of tsl interco thornbird tires. the whole reason i was asking the question of size is because the only size of the thornbird that has 10 layers of their bias ply is the size listed above hence the size in question someone please give me a hand.

If you ever need anything done right go see Matt in the Service department at Shore Toyota in Mays Landing. I did not get my truck from there but they are a really good service department. I tried Vineland Toyota dealership and no offense but they are idiots. Good luck with your new truck.

I'm kinda there myself. Why would you ever buy a bias ply tire? It's an inferior design.

actually bias ply tires work great offroad...however the thornturd is notorious for being the worst offroad tire ever made

I don't understand why bias ply tires would work well off road. Would someone mind explaining it to me?http://www.offroaders.com/tech/AT-MT-Tires/tire-tech.htm#Bias_Ply_Definition

i had a set on my old frontier and they worked just fine for me? although i did sipe them i took time and did it myself they where noisy on the road but i like that sound and they where good in really deep snow. idk i seemed to get on fine with them although alot of people are saying that they can't get their shiz balanced correctly because of the informity of the tire itself. i guess i just lucked out with them.

i'm looking for a tire that is great in the snow, can handle some mud and light off road use and looks mean. i thought about going with the tsl because i had them before and like i said i had good luck with them. but the more i read people seem to really like the goodyear duratrac and they are growing on me. any thoughts on the tsl trxus i think i'm going to either get the duratracs or the trxus. which one would be better given my needs?

do yourself a favor and dont buy the trxus m/t

they work great offroad...in fact they are a fantastic tire...they just do NOT hold up to pavement use

i squeezed out 20K on my set and that was running them down till almost bald...
