Exactly!! I rode around for awhile on 33"s with stock gearing and it was alright.. To me it felt like you were starting in 2nd gear all the time and having to ride the clutch abit to get going..Regearing made a big difference, and it takes alot of stress off your driveline caused by the larger tires putting your truck into a lower rpm range.. Which in the long run will save you money not wearing down your clutch and other components. You notice it right away the first time you take off in first gear in what a difference it makes..If you do alot of offroading you loose alot of your low range as well.. and regearing will correct that.. make it even better if you over gear abit..
Just my opinion.. But yes it can be done and drivable as well as you are stating..
How do you like the 305's are you getting any rubbing???

Can not regearing and running larger tires also cause quicker wear to the transmission?

Depends alot on the driver. Some have burned up clutches when running larger tires, while others havnt. It DOES put more load on the Engine/tranny whne running stock gears with larger tires though.

I haven't hit either body mount. I did make a full lock fast U turn and rubbed the passenger side a hair on the front. Nothing more cutting can't fix. I already have All Pro fiberglass fenders on my list for tax season.

Did I say this Sunday?? haha.

Probablly gonna have to wait till next Sunday now. I was able to get my resi shocks installed without too much problem by myself. Got the sway bar relocator brackets put in with no problem too.

The big problem I'm having is my garage is too damn narrow to work on the coilovers, so I'm probablly going to have a shop install them Monday.

I did get to the point where I disconected the sway bar link from the spindle and backed the UCA joint nut back and started smaking it with the hammer to break it free. I was having a tough time being able to generate enough hammer speed to pop it loose because of the cramped space I was working in. Was also feeling like all I was going to do was mushroom the hell out of the nut before it would break loose.

Also after I jacked it up and got that far, I relaized I should have taken the sway bar all the way off the truck before I started trying to seperate the spindle/UCA apart. By the time I got the stuff put back together to take the sway bar off with the truck on the ground, I was like egh screw this and didn't feel like dealing with it anymore. Another problem is because of the garage I probablly can't fish the sway bar out being that it's 6 feet or so long anyway because of the space I'm trying to work in.

Sunday I will try to see if I can take the sway bar completly off/out of the truck, If I can fish that thing out, then maybe I will try round 2 on the coilovers. Though I heard someplace that to completly remove the sway bar you need to remove the factory skid plate. I have a TRD skid plate and I don't see how removing the TRD plate is going to give me anymore room to fish it out than leaving it in. The brackets/supports it bolts to are slightly lower than the plate.

A bigger garage would be NICE Santa if yer listening.

Wish I would have got this earlier. Thanks for the offer! I decided to try using the instructions ICON provided, instead of the sticky way. Their way is disconnecting the tie rod link instead of the UCA joint, which made more sense to me and possibly easier. Unfortuantly you still have to pop out a taper joint just like the UCA.

I even went and bought a big ass hammer to smack the crap out of the joint and a prybar for pushing the suspension down a hair if needed.

I beat the ever loving shit out of the end link and it never budged, not even a hair. I was hitting it so hard I was afraid I would break the joint and or bend the steering rod, so I put the crap back together and said fug it. And yes I took the pin out and loosened the nut LOL. And it was all soaked with liqued wrench, along with all the other nuts.

It seems like something you shouldn't need a sledge hammer to pop it out but maybe it does. I thought about backing the nut off till it was flush with the end of the bolt, thinking it might pop loose easier, since I would be hitting directly in line with the bolt/hole instead of offset a little but since it didn't budge by hitting the end of the rod, I figured it would still not budge even by hitting it that way.

If it wasn't for the taper joint being such a bitch, I would have them in by now. I have an appointment for first thing Monday morning. I had a guy install springs when I had my 350Z and he does good work, so I'll let his shop beat the piss out of my truck LOL. I've had these coilovers and my shocks sitting in my living room for 2 weeks and I just want the coilovers in now.

The shocks were really easy to install, even when I snapped the tip of one of the factory shocks off trying to break the top nut loose. Vise grips rule!

fat tires..

ok so I plan on going to a 31 or 32 inch tire,with 4:10 gearing in my 2009 taco now.what is the best gear to go with and is stock gearing going to wear out faster with big tires besides the eng/trannie(I drive a 5 speed).
