any power loss with a 2.5 lift runnin 32a/t's?

and also gas milage

 

Power loss on my 2.7 4x4 2010 model is noticable on 32s.. I just regeared and the power greatly increased. 4.88 gears are a must. I have CAI, headers, catback exhaust, but the gears give it way more power than anything else.

 

Larger tires will always result in power loss and mileage loss. You can't beat physics. Whether or not it's "too much" is up to you.

Personally, I felt my 2nd gen was overly peppy at the stock wheel size. With 33s it feels just right to me.

 

espek was it a big power loss or somethin you coulda delt with that wasnt too bad??

i just look at your mods and your running the same daystar lift ima get in the next couple of weeks... how do you like it? is there anything not to great about it
do you have the aal in the rear or the block one

 

tc, power loss was not too bad until u go offroad rock crawlin or go up some steep hills (like up to tahoe throught the Sierras gotta down shift qhite a bit). It bogs down in mud and snow quite a bit too with 32s.

Daystar 2.5" looks great. It rides a little stiff and doesnt flex too great tho. I got 2" block in rear.

 

4.88 with 32's

That puts you at roughly 2905 RPM at 70 MPH. For 32's I think 4.88 are very excessive! Maybe a 4.30 and 4.56 tops.

Mind you as well I input 32" not what 265/75/16 usually measure out to which is about 31.5-32ish. Its also not just the diameter difference that you lose mileage and power on its the width as well. The wider the more friction which means more power needed which results in more fuel used.

 

according to my gps, 32's (265/75/16) actualy corrected my speedo

 

My 33.10 are so so so damn close also! I watch the road mile marker and my odometer and its so so damn close its weird!

ya im just below 3K on the RPMs at 70mph with the 4.88s. Not too bad since I dont do a whole lot of highway miles - and when I do, it is fine. I'm glad I didnt go with anything less than 4.88s - it wouldnt have been worth it. Plus my next set of tires are gonna be atleast 33s so that'll help too.

 

those 4.88s seem too big i like to cruise at 80 and its right under 3k lol
took the truck past 115 this weekend

I'll be sticking with 265's rather than going to 285's for mpg purposes.

 

espek im going to purchase the lift you currently have do you think thats a good starter lift cuz i mainly drive on the road but when i do go offroad i eant it to perform pretty good for the price off the lift would you say it was definitely worth it?do you kno any parts that will help smooth the ride abit too??

 

Ya its an ok lift - looks good and performs no better than stock besides fitting bigger tires on. You may be better off with aftermarket coils such as from toytec. May ride nicer and allow for better flex.

 

265/75 16 worked great for me. A little power loss but not much. Same with fuel economy.

 

for the second gen our overdrive is .81 right? or is it .85? I cant ever remember
