Believe it or not, I made it out of 1 1/2" PVC pipe and wooden dowels on the inside. It held really strong and was incredible sturdy with the reinforcement coming from the dowels on the inside. It only cost me about $50 buck and I couldn't be happier with the end result! For the "floor" I just used a sheet of ply wood painted black and screwed into the PVC and dowels. Unfortunately I sold the camper shell and the roof basket went with it, otherwise I would have snapped some pics and helped you out with some more questions if you had any. I just couldn't justify spending $300+ for a metal basket that would rust, chip, or possibly be stolen so I went a different route! If you have any questions, or want advice on how to make it, I think I still have the blue prints and spec sheet somewhere around the house and I'd be more than happy to help you out.

I'll have to get them to you sometime next week. I am off at school and all my drawings and sketches (as well as my truck) are back at home.

Just caught up on this thread and if you could pm me the details/sketches when you get a chance, that'd be much appreciated as well! Looks sick and sounds fairly simple as I'm mechanically challenged.

    Thanks for any help! :D

Here's my Leer, I like it, but it's a winter thing for me, I can't wait to get it off for the summer soon!

nice to keep the snow off of my things for the winter though.

What we all posted are considered "camper" shells. Granted you actually have a camping shell, but the OP never corrected us when we posted our camper shells so he must be fine with what we posted.

Mounted up this used shell yesterday, bought it from a buddy of mine for $100. No leaks, bug screens still sealed, keys for the lock. Tan color unfortunately, so it might get a flat black scuff-and-shoot this summer once it warms up. I have no idea what brand it is, and nether did he (no id cards anywhere). I think it is a Leer, but I'm not sure.
