    Hey All,

Just wanted to get some opinions on which exhaust I should get. I have a 2009 Prerunner 4cyl, with 5 speed manual. Right now i've only done a drop in K&N. A shop near my work said they would do either one, Flowmaster 40 series or a Magnaflow for $140 installed. I'd like to stay away from my truck sounding like a rice-rocket exhaust, would prefer something throaty (as much as a 4 banger can be) and louder but not obnoxiously annoying.

Any suggestions? or should I look into another exhaust other than flowmaster or magnaflow?

Thanks for any advice / suggestions!

iv got an 04, with a 40series flow sound, gives a throaty sound and also keeps it sound while staying at a steady speed. was only 100 bucks and adds alot of sound. i wanted the same thing as you, its not to loud not to quiet. very happy with it

Don't buy Flowmaster anything, they failed to renew there patent a few years back. If you want a Flowmaster for about $40 less and the exact same performance and sound,,,buy a Flowtech;);).

dang man that sounds good. i may look into doing a setup like that. i may add a little pipe on the end of it though so it isn't too loud.

ive got a 2007 5speed 2.7L with a magnaflow muffler, not gonna lie, but yeah it sounds ricey at times. 2300rpm and lower it sounds ok ... but once im at 2500rpm+ it starts to sound like a little civic

ya the turndowns make it echo like a mother. if you did a dual or single tip coming out behind the rear tires it wouldnt be so loud

Im looking for an aftermarket exhaust on my 2009 4cylinder 5sp too. Questions, what'sgoing on between the headers and mufflers? 2 cats? or is on a pre-muffler? Is it worth removing one and then adding a performace muffler or would a "cat-back" system solve this problem?

i dont think you will lose performance with the cherry bomb extreme. its a single chamber muffler. i havent noticed any performance losses

so i bit the bullet and i'm getting a guy to put a cherry bomb extreme on after seeing your video.

i'm going to run a single out and run some pipe straight back with a turndown.

So the guy had literally just finished working on my truck when a guy and his son came in to the shop and when he turned my truck on the guy asked if it was a V6 and then he didn't believe me when I told him it was a 4-banger.

It's definitely throaty and loud though lol
