OME 880 OR 881

Just got my bilstein last week and looking at the ome 880 and 881.
I have a 2004 ext cab with the 2.7l.Will the 881 be too high for my 4cyl?
I'm going to order the wheelers progressive aal at the same time so I'm trying to get some info before I get everything together.I want to leave the 5100 at zero and add the coils+ the wheelers aal(1.5" lift) and hoping tha the truck is level.

You might be a tad low. 881's should give you 2.75 of lift with the provided .5 spacer from toytech anyway. Thats with stock shocks.

I have the 2.7 and I went with the OME 880. I was told that unless you had like a heavy winch on the front of your vehicle the OME 881 would be too much. Here is a link to a nice page that lists the lift amounts from using the OME coils: http://fresh.tacomaterritory.com/wiki/index.php/OME

So did the 880 coils give you any lift?

Well, the only way to tell is to have him measure from the center of the center cap to the bottom of the front fender. I could tell you exactly how much lift an 881 OME will give you with stock shocks. Providing he is a prerunner and not 4x4.

I have 24 inches exactly.

I've seen these numbers from the link above, but they don't make sense to me. There is a note below these numbers that says...

880-882 specs: all are a 500# rated coil with the same # of coil wraps, only the length is different 880s are 365mm long; 881s, 375mm; 882s, 395mm

Ok, so if these coils are the same save the length, then why doesn't the projected lift differ by the coil length difference?

For example - look at the reg cab 880 vs. 881. - It says that there is a 1.5" (38 mm) difference in lift. (1" for 880's and 2.5" for 881's).

If the 880 and 881 coils have the same # of wraps and spring rate, but one is just over 3/8" (10mm) longer, then why is the projected lift nearly 4 times that much at 1.5" (38mm)?

It seems to me that if the 880 gave a reg cab truck 1" (25mm) then the 881 being 10mm longer would give 35mm and the 882 being 30mm longer would give 55mm of lift over stock.

What am I missing here?

Per TTORA, 881's will be 2.5 but like someone else posted, it would probably be around 2.75"+ then settle.
