05+ 4cyl exhaust

I figured I'd throw this up first, since I know us 4-banger guys are constantly looking for an exhaust that doesn't make our trucks sound like a Civic with a fart can.

Jardine Cat-Back at URD

And just so you all know, I emailed URD, and they will sell the muffler alone if you don't want to buy the whole cat-back. You just gotta ask.

And here's a soundclip, provided by Who Dat Popcorn:

What are our choices for an exhaust system?

Newb here and just wondering how many choices do we have when it comes to changing out our OEM exhaust?

instead of replacing the whole cat-back system, replace the stock muffler and do a dynomax # 17749

I just purchased Doug Thorley headers, now I'm wondering if I have other restrictions in the exhaust system to deal with. I'm not looking to make the truck loud. I just want to make sure that the headers can do there thing without unnecessary restrictions. Can someone enlighten me about the stock exhaust and what improvements I can make.
Thanx

headers are great. even with the stock muffler they are okay. However, you could if you wanted to get a new muffler to weld in or you could go and get an exhaust kit. headers give you power in the low end range. I believe that is right. and Cold air intakes- not worth the money- give you power in the higher rpms. but yes, DT headers are very good. especially in combonation with the right exhaust/muffler.

Any recommendation for an exhaust system.
You are talking about everything back from the headers?

yes, if you have the short headers. Then it depends all on how you want your truck to sound. Jardine exhaust, which is what i and Who dat popcorn have, sounds really good. people say it sounds like a rice burner, but it is posted in a soundclip at the begining of this post. Borla sounds good, but its a little too pricey for my taste. Volant makes an exhaust and Gibson makes an exhaust. gibson is good if you tow anything or you want it to sound like a good rumble in the exhaust tone. Ive heard people reccomend, Doug thorley headers in combonation with the jardine exhaust. they are made by the same compony so it would probly have better compatibility

Atually, Long tube headers are more of a benafit to the upper rpm's, while a "Tri-Y" header gives the most gains in the low to mid range. It all depends on how the header is tuned for the exhaust.
