whats everyones rpm range they shift at with the 2.7 and what kinda fuel are they using. ive been filling up with 93 octane for the past 2 fill-ups and trying to stay under 2-2500 rpms and it seems to suck gas more, anyone have anything similar?

I shift between 2500-3000 in normal driving, use 87 octane, and am getting roughly 20-21 mpg. But I don't drive to save gas.

I use 87 octane and try and shift between 2000 and 2500 to save gas. On occassion though I'll run it up to 3000. With the 245/75r16's I was averaging 22 mpgs. With the 265/75r16's I'm averagin 21.5 mpgs.

Black regular cab 4x4s FTW! haha

Using 87. Tried premium for a while and if anything noticed a sluggish throttle response.

I shift around 3000 when getting up to cruising speed. Once at cruising speed, I use whatever gear allows me to stay around, but not below 2000 RPMs. Normally around these parts (speed limits of 40), I'm in 4th gear when cruising.

I tried a few tanks w/ 91-93 octane, no improvement in MPG = to back to 87 for me.
Unless I am in a hurry, typical shift ~2,500.

first to second is usually around 2500, after that its what ever, even though i bought a 4 banger, it was so much for squeezing every last mpg out of it.

    I use 87. I think the owner's manual says to shift at 15, 25, 40, and 45. That's usually what I go by except I wait till 50 to go into 5th.

I guess I've gotten used to my '05 Impreza 2.5rs, which I usually shift around 3k (except 1st), and get max horsies at +3500 rpm.
I know my '10 Taco (4 cyl AC 4x4) shifts happily around 2k, but I can't help pushing it closer to 3k.
    Am I an Idiot?
BTW 80-90% highway driving yields approximately 21-22mpg, or about 10.5l/100km.
I try to follow the posted speed suggestio..er,ah limit, but I usually average 65-75mph, or 105-125km/h.
She's 6 months old now and ~13,000km, totally stock.

I find myself sneaking peeks at her like some adolescent with a crush. At home, work, friends', I find a way to just go have a look and let her beauty caress my eyes. Each time, I'm filled with this warm glow, a sense of rightness, a feeling that my manhood has just grown two whole sizes.
I used to think I could only feel that way about my Scooby - it was her ass, her stance, her whole attitude that ensnared me. Now I have two beauties, all mine to slip into and give'er til she quivers. Like my buddy said, "If you can't strike bottom, you can at least beat the sides out of her."
    Vroom.

Yah Maui doesn't have much of freeways or high ways, you can't go more than a couple miles without having to stop. I usually get around 24mpg ( ultraguage said so) pretty much all city driving.

    2nd @ ~2500
    3rd @ ~2100
    4th @ ~2300
    5th @ ~2100

Usually gives me pretty smooth shifts as well as great fuel economy.

The computer in the 2.7 will not adjust the timing and spark advance to use premiuim fuel. Putting anything higher than 87 in it is a complete waste of money, the truck will not use the additional octane.

The computer in the 4.0 will adjust the timing and the spark advance for premium fuel and it will make more power with 91 octane fuel.

I shift whenever the slushbox feels like it.
