When I shift from first to second it misses, like the sparkplugs are not firing right. Any ideas, only in the morning when it is cold does it happen.

I just did a service on it like a 1000k miles ago. I think it could be spark plugs. What do you think? It is only on the beginning of the shift when it is cold, like a stutter.

at what rpm are you shifting into 2nd? the ratio's for 1st and 2nd are very far apart and cause the rpms to drop quite considerably.

I have not changed them since I bought the truck with 35,000 miles.

OP, I assume this is a new problem, and you are not just lugging in 2nd due to being at low RPMs? Below 1500 in any gear will cause serious lugging.

Also, I'm confused as to why the plug would only not fire in 2nd gear. If a plug isn't working right, shouldn't it ALWAYS not work right, or INTERMITTENTLY not work right, with no patterns?

I noticed there is a bigger jump from 1st to 2nd than any other gears, I have to run the tac up a little higher in the first shift, or it will grunt a little more.

I need to shift 2500-3k into second or it lugs a little when cold and causes a rough shift into 2nd. Every other gear I can do 2k RPM shifts no problem, so that's what has worked for me form day one.
